Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance...

Posted on March 19, 2008
Or something like that.Let me just say that if, lets say, hypothetically you opened a neat boutique-y dog kennel, then hypothetically you would avoid:a- opening one two blocks from another kennel of the exact same concept ORb- having basically the exact same name as the aforementioned kennel of the exact same concept And, lets say, if you hypothetically opened said dog kennel and did not avoid a OR b, then I would say that you should have a really really big sign telling customers at the front door that you are not the kennel of the exact same concept and almost the exact same name located a mere two blocks away...

Congratulations!

BISMOW started his new job today. For a variety of boring reasons (i.e. financial and the like) this is a very good thing. He is a lawyer and with the dismal market out there, the fact that he was able to make not only a change but an "upward" one at that is pretty awesome...

The Number You Have Reached Is Busy

Posted on March 17, 2008
My Boss at BPLF: Hey Daisy, whatcha doing? Daisy: Um. Finishing a complaint for you, another complaint for Mr. Very Important, another for Mr. Super Very Important that has a very firm statutory deadline of Friday, a trial brief for the Very Important Trial Team Who Has No Clerk This Week, trying to wrap my brain around some mediation memo's that I know you want to get off to the mediators, and then some stuff at some offices really far away that Very Important Team needs me to do...

St. Patty's Day

Posted on March 16, 2008
Yesterday was St. Patrick's Day. The Pope said so, and from what I hear, he has authority on those things. So yesterday BISMOW and I went from party to party and bar to bar and got our green on. It was great. Other than the unruly drunks, the vomit on the sidewalks and the other usual grossness of "Drinking Holidays"...

Swoon

Romance at its finest:BISMOW told me that I'm cuter than Spitzer's call girl.

..or Dare?

Posted on March 12, 2008
Please read the opening sentence which came from this article about Eliot Spitzer. Please note that I am in no way publishing, broadcasting, rewriting or redistributing this article. Just...you know...pointing a few things out.Lets see...in one sentence we get the following words: tumultuous tumble zenith promising political nadir shocking sex scandal bright bullheaded bloating...

Do You Know Where You Are?

Posted on March 11, 2008
Seeing as how it is Tuesday it is a "school" morning on which I get to treat myself to Starbucks. Ahh that delicious latte. Barista: Ok thanks. (hands me my card back) Would you like your receipt? Daisy: No thanks, I'm good. (Begins to turn to walk towards the coffee bar...

Crazy Ethical

Posted on March 10, 2008
Saturday was the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam, a/k/a the MPRE, a/k/a the "Are You Going To Be An Ethical Lawyer" exam. Unlike some people I didn't oversleep and miss the exam, or oversleep and almost miss the exam. Nope I was there right on time...

I Came, I Saw, I.....

Posted on March 07, 2008
did something?I had my meeting. I did not vomit.I find out in a month. Give or take.Oh goodness. The real hoping/praying/finger crossing starts right about now.

Unemployment

Posted on March 06, 2008
As a third year law student I am doing the annual "rush and find a job so you can pay your bills and eat and become a productive member of society and not have to come crawling home to Mom & Dad admitting that you just can't hack it in the big bad world" ritual...

Wrong Number

Posted on March 04, 2008
Someone is an idiot.Someone, more specifically, who has a phone number that is clearly similar to mine. And this idiot, being completely unaware of what their phone number is, is giving my number out instead. The incoming calls have been crazy. I haven't actually had a chance to answer any of them as these individuals always seem to call when I'm in class, at work, or running an errand that requires me to interact with other people, preferably without my phone glued to my ear...

Dear All of You With The Death:

Posted on March 03, 2008
I love you all.Now please stay away. No, no, I know what your symptoms are. You have a horrible fever. You feel wretched. Lapsing into a coma/drooling Nyquil induced sleep is imminent. You hate the world. You don't know or care why and when you got the flu shot...

Imagery

Posted on March 02, 2008
This weekend, I got the heck out of dodge. As BISMOW was giving me a grand tour of his college campus, I enjoyed the scenery. I even took a photo: Now imagine me a few feet away from said pretty picture, sprawled out on the ground, knee bleeding, slush all over me, bags on the ground...

A Few Truths & A Lie

Posted on February 28, 2008
So today I'm going to share a few things with you. One of them will be a lie....you can vote on which one and then, one day, I'll let you know which one isn't true. Here goes:- When I was a baby my family owned a Belgian Tervuren , a type of Belgian Shepard...

Atonement i.e. Paying For Depression

Posted on February 27, 2008
Just in case anyone was wondering, I saw Atonement.Let me rephrase that. I asked BISMOW if he wanted to go to a movie and when he said yes I told him that Atonement had been nominated for a lot of awards and was set during WWII. In my defense, this was really all I knew about it...

Steam Cycle

Posted on February 26, 2008
Papa Duke just sent me a text message telling me that he flew over my college and was hanging out, eating red beans and rice, in New Orleans. I think the second part might have just been a big joke mostly because I'm fairly certain he was sitting in an airport terminal, but one never knows with him...

And The Oscar Goes To.....

Posted on February 25, 2008
So, like many people, American and otherwise (otherwise? really? sorry guys, it is Monday, and with that comes a complete lackofvocabulary...) I watched the Oscar's last night. Actually, after spending five entire, horrible hours of my life learning about being an ethical lawyer or, rather, learning the finer topics usually tested on the "how to be an ethical lawyer" mandatory exam I crawled home, ordered a take & bake pizza (Ahem! New favorite pizza combo! Whole wheat crust, sauce, cheese, fresh garlic and basil...

Scentsational Memories

Posted on February 21, 2008
You know how a smell can instantly transport you back to a time and place so far from where you are currently standing it is eerie? For instance, a whiff of Chanel # 5 reminds me of my Mother, all dressed up with her gorgeous dark green dress coat, coming in to kiss me goodnight after coming home from a night out with my Dad...

Haaappy Biiirthday To LBAAAAAAAAAA

Posted on February 20, 2008
No, that isn't Legally Blonde Ambition x 1 million, its just, you know, what it would sound like if you sang Happy Birthday to my blog. Because LBA turns one year old today. Lets review the past year:- I finished my second year of law school. Big yay...

Does Daisy Have OCD? Vote!

Posted on February 19, 2008
Sometimes people (a/k/a, PAG, Anonymous Hottie, Bismow & Mama Duke) inform me that I'm weird. As in organized and OCD. Here is my closet...I don't think it is that organized. If you look closely in the lower right hand corner you can see the embroidery on my traditional German wear for Oktoberfest in Munich...

Who Knew?

Posted on February 19, 2008
Apparently Hubert Humphrey was not a President of the United States. He was a vice president.I stand corrected.Blah blah blah. Blah blah blah.

Posted on February 18, 2008
Today my boss gave a speech. It was an excellent speech. I say that becuase I wrote it....or at least wrote out all the bullet points for him to follow. I got to attend the speech becuase I was in charge of the Powerpoint presentation. Very high tech you know...

Now I'm supposed to hand the award onto someone else who I think is an excellent blogger...and so I'd like to hand it over to Grace, who makes me laugh on a daily basis...

Happy Half-Priced Chocolate Day Eve

Posted on February 14, 2008
Tomorrow ladies & gentlemen, is Half-Priced Chocolate Day. It is the day of the year that you skeddadle on over to Godiva or Ghiradelli, or hell, even Walgreens and select yourself your favorite truffle or chocolate gnache box, throw away the obnoxious red & pink & heart covered packaging, and enjoy your goodies...

Oooh

Posted on February 12, 2008
http://legal-lucy.blogspot.com/Read. Love. Repeat. But seriously, whenever my Hot Blonde Former Co-Worker takes up blogging I can't help but be supportive...and hope she isn't wittier than me.Also, on a side note, I'd like to say that for once I have a reader & commentor whose blog doesn't fall into the legal genre/bitching/moaning or typical young 20 something moan about life/work/significant others...

Communication

Posted on February 12, 2008
Lets start with the snail mail and share a recent card BISMOW got in the mail:Dear BDSMOW (Boy Daisy Sometimes Makes Out With):Thanks for letting us abuse your apartment last weekend. Your girlfriend is smokin'. Sorry we clogged the toilet.Love,The University of the Midwest Varsity Ice Curling TeamI'll let y'all ponder that one & decide if that letter was part of Ms...

Ayo Technology

Posted on February 11, 2008
I just trekked to school in a ridiculously cold snowstorm from my office. The weather map has this image:Followed by the sentence: "Feels like 2* F"By the time I got to the Starbucks by school, my hair was drenched with freezing snow. Luckily a few of my friends told me that this "drowned-rat" look has given way to the "sexy school teacher" look...

Morning Cup of.......

Posted on February 09, 2008
At BPLF we work on teams. My team is quite small: me, the legal assistant/secretary, and The Boss, an attorney & partner at BPLF. We are a small team and work relatively well together, but, um, someone on the team is sort of odd. And it isn't me...

Lent....

Posted on February 08, 2008
I should preface this by saying I'm not actually Catholic, so giving up something for Lent is not something that my church asks me to to do...but the idea of giving something up for 40 days before Easter doesn't seem like a half bad one, and so for most of my college & law school years, I've given something up...
