Steam Cycle

By "Daisy Duke"

ADVERTISEMENTS
Papa Duke just sent me a text message telling me that he flew over my college and was hanging out, eating red beans and rice, in New Orleans. I think the second part might have just been a big joke mostly because I'm fairly certain he was sitting in an airport terminal, but one never knows with him. He's sneaky. Like a fox.

Remember how Papa Duke is not exactly Mr. Romance & Sentiment? Mostly with the Valentines Day fiasco for the past 10 odd years or so. Well, Mama Duke has a birthday in about a month and a half. During this time frame, much of the "finish work" is being done on the monstrosity, I mean house, that the Duke parents are building. Mama Duke recently picked out the washer and dryer she is having put into the linen & laundry room. Behold:

Mama Duke is fairly excited about this washer and dryer. Well, as excited as people can be about large appliances. The washer has a steam cycle, and the set has the highest Energy Star rating possible, helping contribute to the overall environmentally friendly theme of the house. (Including a really cool heating & cooling system that uses outside air and filters and all sorts of copper coils to heat & cool air far more efficiently then a standard system.)

But I digress. Mama Duke picked these out and told Papa Duke to add them to the appliance order. He did. And scheduled delivery on my Mom's birthday. And told her that they were her present.....

I see a trip to Paris in my Mom's immediate future. One that Papa Duke knows nothing about but that all the charges for mysteriously show up on his credit card statement.
