You may have been amused to see me lying on a mountain unable to move having to have ski patrol come bundle me up in one of those sleds...

1. It is not a good idea to go out and wreck one's knee skiing in order to get a couple of days off of work. As much fun as laying around on the couch all day sounds, not being able to walk, get in the bathtub, get food from the kitchen, or dress yourself is not fun and necessarily comes with the territory...

I have decided that the absolute worst part of my job has got to be waiting on jury verdicts.* I've never really been fond of waiting for anything. I especially don't like waiting for decisions when that decision is totally out of my control and in the hands of others...

10 days into the new year and I'm already exhausted. Turns out criminal court rooms are absolute mad houses the week following new years weekend, I'm actually not sure I had time to eat lunch any day last week. It was a completely insane week and yet I loved almost every minute of it...

It seems odd to think that all that fuss about Y2K happened 10 years ago. Has it really been that long? Has a whole decade really gone by? I remember NYE '99 like it was yesterday, which is shocking considering I was practically an infant. I was 15, a sophomore in high school...

I've lived in my current apartment near Useless University for almost 5 years now. It's the first place I ever lived by myself, the first place where I had to pay rent and utilities, and act like a grown up with real furniture and responsibilities. But the apartment really is a student apartment...

Every time I think that I should seriously think about leaving Useless City for a new adventure we have a day like we had yesterday: It snowed the night of the 23rd, so I was treated to the spectacular view of the stunning white mountains sitting above a town dusted in snow against a clear bright blue sky as I drove home to the parentals for Christmas Eve festivities...

Not sure how I did it, but somehow I managed to put together a holiday party in less than 48 hours. One of my good friends (Little Miss Sunshine) got a job to the state directly North of Useless State and she's leaving us this weekend. Turns out the rest of her week is jam packed with other things and obligations so tonight was the only night she was free for a going away/holiday party...

Apparently my friends have the incredible ability to predict the future. Once they all hear of the current Trivia Boy drama the only response I'm going to get is "I told you so," because they all predicted this would happen. I don't know how I didn't see it, but man I wish I would have listened to what they were saying over the summer, maybe it would have made things a little less complicated right now...

I've been a Mac user for about 5 years now. The reason I switched is because I was absolutely fed up with Windows and all of the XP vulnerabilities, viruses, crashes, etc. My friends have been known to call me an Apple whore because I have multiple iPods, an iphone, a laptop and various other apple accessories that are far overpriced but oh so fabulous...

Although I did a short stint in the training division (minor traffic cases only) last summer, I started 2 weeks ago feeling rusty and like I definitely needed to find my footing again. The people who run the admin side of my office really are morons.  The office recently purchased software that will automatically make phone calls and send emails whenever the office is closed or opening late due to inclement weather.  Idiot human resources director, who caused all the previous drama over the summer, is the person responsible for programming the information into the system...

So far life as a lawyer has been fairly uneventful, which I suppose is good because it means that I haven't been fired and that I still have my bar license. However, that doesn't mean that working in the traffic division isn't entertaining, it's not as interesting on an academic type level as the felony division was, but the outrageous stories and excuses I get to hear on a daily basis really do make my day...

I'm all official now, got my attorney license number yesterday and was sworn in as a Deputy DA today. It didn't really hit me that I'm a real attorney with a real job until I went to my benefits orientation meeting and learned about those adult things I've always heard my parents talk about, 401(k)s, IRAs, HMOs, PPOs, etc...

I'm getting sworn in as an attorney in Useless State tomorrow morning, and then on Thursday I'm getting sworn in as a Deputy DA. I can't believe it's already been 3 years since I started trying to figure out exactly how to read a case, how to prepare for law school classes, and how to outline, at the time it seemed like the end of law school was light years away...

Thanks to all of you for the congrats, it's been a pretty amazing few days. For the most part I've been on cloud nine. But it all has to end at some point and I have to come back down to reality. The mandatory staff meeting we had yesterday afternoon at work managed to do just that...
