Ellsworth School District Lawsuit
4.4% increase in salaries as part of contract settlement.
Ellsworth School District
Ellsworth, WI: (May-26-08) The local teachers union brought charges against the Ellsworth School District, over issues pertaining to their employment contract. Sources on both sides of the dispute stated that the parties had reached a settlement agreement, ratifying a two-year contract. The deal stipulated that there will be a 4.4% increase in salaries and benefits for the 2007-08 school years and a 4.3% increase for the 2008-09 year, according to Supt. Dan Kaler. School officials said that the salaries range from $31,492 for a starting teacher to $59,760 for a teacher at the top of the pay schedule. Under the terms of the settlement agreement, a degree of retroactive pay will be necessary. Currently, the two-year settlement applies to the period from July 2007 to Jun. 30, 2009. Kaler stated that there are approximately 165 teachers in the Ellsworth district, and with the final package, the district will be competitive enough to draw the best teachers.THE REPUBLICAN EAGLE: Ellsworth teachers, board settle on contract
