Cardio and Classes

Posted on August 13, 2008
Tonight I did a kick-boxing class at Nubody?s. The last couple of days I have been focusing only on cardio, so I pretty much am holding off weights for now and going back to cardio. Even though I have been mostly doing only running, after tonight?s class, I think I?m going to try and jump into a few more cardiovascular work-out classes from now on...

Ottawa

Posted on August 06, 2008
Ottawa was a great visit. It was my first time going there. Probably one of my favorite spots that I went to go see was the Supreme Court of Canada.Ah! I feel like such a dork.

Zombie Books and Live Entertainment

Posted on July 28, 2008
So I finished up The Zombie Survival Guide (I especially liked the historical accounts near the end of the book), and yesterday managed to buy a few books, one of them being World War Z and a graphic novel of I Am Legend. So it?ll be interesting to see how much or how little my own story is like those two...

Zombie Novel/Story, Zombie Books, and Weight-lifting

Posted on July 23, 2008
In case if you were curious (or if you even still cared), I have not abandoned my zombie novel/story at all. I?m still editing it almost every day and doing the occasional extra parts here and there. I?ve just avoided it for the longest time because of exams/traveling/graduation/bar stuff, etc?In fact, I am almost just about done with The Zombie Survival Guide (by Max Brooks)...

Bar exams and The Dark Knight

Posted on July 18, 2008
From my own experience (and not speaking on behalf of anyone else), I found that the Bar exams are no-where near as hard as a law school exam or even the LSAT (ugh!). I think that, after so many years of 100% closed-book finals, I?ve just gotten used to it...

Bar Exam Study Time

Posted on July 13, 2008
I swear that if I had two weeks to study instead of just one, I?d not only pass, I?d probably ace the Bar exams tomorrow and Tuesday. One week off isn?t enough.

Bar Exam Motivation

Posted on July 03, 2008
I must admit; it?s very hard staying motivated to study for the Bar exam.

Order of Canada

Posted on July 01, 2008
He may not be the most popular Canadian, but he is going to be the recipient of the Order of Canada.Congratulations Doctor Morgentaler!

Studying, Weeks, Ottawa, and Toronto

Posted on June 28, 2008
Just a weekend of studying at the Barrister?s Library, and it?s 24/7 too (can?t go wrong with that).I took last night, and as well as this weekend, off from the gym. My upper body in general is aching a bit. I think I may even take a week off as well, although I don?t know if it will be next week or the week after, which is my week off from work to study...

National Aboriginal Day and Nubody's

Posted on June 21, 2008
Just want to give a shout to all my Indigenous and non-Indigenous friends to wish them all a Happy National Aboriginal Day, so be sure to give your favorite Aboriginal person a hug today.Since I already decided to go back into weights, I may actually just go back to Nubody?s at Scotia Square for now (or maybe just during the weekdays)...

Weights

Posted on June 19, 2008
Tonight, instead of my usual running for cardio, I decided to do a full-body work-out with weights, the first time doing so since January. I?m pretty weakened out at the moment, and will definitely be feeling it tomorrow. But I think I want to cut-back (but not cut-out) cardio and focus more on weight-lifting for the time-being.

A Constitutional Amendment?

Posted on June 18, 2008
I was down in Cuba when the first reading was done, but an interesting Bill nevertheless. Is this a Constitutional Amendment? Why have I not seen on the news yet?

Indian Residential School Apology

Posted on June 11, 2008
The Prime Minister apologized today on behalf of the Canadian government for its role in the administration of the Indian Residential SchoolI have little to say about this actually. I have blogged before on my own feelings about the settlement and its process, so check out the archives if you are interested...

First Week, Nubody's, Settled In, and Law School Friends

Posted on June 07, 2008
The first week of work was good and all. It will definitely pick up as time goes on. I obviously won?t be saying anything more about work really for obvious reasons on confidentiality, so I?ll just leave it at that.I tried the Nubody?s at Scotia Square earlier this week (since it?s closer to where I live), but I still rather do the extra minutes in walking and stick with Park Lane...

Law School

Posted on June 02, 2008
In all honesty, I could type and ramble and go on and on about how great graduation was, how wonderful my fellow alumni are, and how incredible and unforgettable law school was. But I will keep it short and simple.I loved each and absolutely every moment that I had in law school...

Sith LL.B (or something like that)

Posted on May 26, 2008
I promise to do a massive blog entry real soon about my overall reflections on law school. But in the meantime, I just wanted to say that graduation was last Friday. I finally got a law degree. The only picture I?ll post here is one that makes me look like a cool Sith from Star Wars (as I think too many look like Jedi)...

Excited, New Place, Frames and Parchments, and Short Blog

Posted on May 21, 2008
I seriously cannot emphasize how excited that I am to graduate this Friday.Yesterday, I did some moving into my new place. I got no internet, phone, or cable there yet (I am Blogging from my old apartment). The new place is great and I love the location (five minutes from Nubody?s and seven minutes from work)...

New York City

Posted on May 18, 2008
New York City was incredible. I definitely need to make a few more trips out there in the future to get to see more of it. Friday was the only real day that I toured anything, but it was raining that day, so I did not get to see all what I wanted, and I wish that I was able to take better pictures...

Presentation, Drive, New York City, and Excited

Posted on May 14, 2008
The trip to Cape Breton went well. I was giving a presentation to high school students in Eskasoni about the Indigenous Black and Mi?kmaw Initiative, as well as law school in general, and of course, Dalhousie Law School in particular. I obviously did this voluntarily, but did receive a nice appreciation present before I left...

3L All Done, and Thank You!

Posted on May 10, 2008
First off, I will do an overall reflection of law school after graduation, but I want to reflect on 3L just for this entry.I must say that finishing up the last year of law school has definitely been bittersweet. On the one hand, who isn?t excited to be all done? Seriously! After the year that they bore you to death, you just can?t wait to get out and get to work...

Cuba, Mario Kart Wii, and No Third Year Reflection just yet

Posted on May 05, 2008
Cuba was definitely something else. It was the first time that I ever really truly traveled somewhere in my life (first time for everything). I was happy to have went down with the friend that I did (she?s done a ton of traveling before), and that we hardly stuck around the resort at all...

Done

Posted on April 21, 2008
Done all my 3L exams.Too tired and burnt out to blog or reflect properly. Will blog and or reflect properly some other time.Didn?t I just write this a little over a year ago at the end of my 2L exams?I am off to Cuba this Friday. Don?t expect any major blog updates...

Accepted Deal and the Indian Act

Posted on March 31, 2008
The deal was accepted.?The federation chose to pursue status as a landless band, because so many of its members live in different communities and did not want to move from their homes to a reserve.??While the agreement will not give the province's Mi'kmaq land or hunting rights, it will provide money for education, health, economic development and other programs...

Indian Act deal without Land

Posted on March 29, 2008
The results are in tomorrow night.I don't know the full history of the Mi'kmaq of Newfoundland, but nevertheless, it is still great to see them get some rights, although the deal will not provide hunting and land rights. I find it a bit perplexing to be given rights under the Indian Act but no land to come with it, as one of the original reasons for the Indian Act back in the day was to set land aside for Indians...

High School, Paper, and Work

Posted on March 28, 2008
Today, I am happy to report that, for the first time since high school (1999-2000), I weigh less than 200 pounds. I am now 197 pounds, a loss of about 60 plus pounds since from last year (it was also a year ago today that I started feeling better given what happened in the beginning of 2L)...

Lease, Paper, Excited, Yearbook, Haircut, and Work

Posted on March 26, 2008
Just a few hours ago, I signed a lease for a new apartment that?s about a seven minute walk from where I will be articling at. It?s very beautiful and even got a pool, plus it?s a lot closer to the gym. I actually decided to start the lease in May since I won?t have time to move in at the end of the month (due to how busy things will be), and will be moving in throughout the month instead, so the transition to June will be light and easy...

Lock-down

Posted on March 21, 2008
I went ahead yesterday and deactivated Facebook and removed msn. Now it is time to focus on everything and try not to think about the fact that I write my last exam one month from today.Lock-down mode has officially been engaged (save except tomorrow night?s karaoke event with one of the law professors and several other students)! Gym aside, no more Domus, going out, movies, etc? It is an all-out study marathon!

Back on Track, Rough Draft Done, and Exam Period

Posted on March 19, 2008
After a week and a few days of slacking off from the gym and unhealthy eating, I got myself back on track again. I finally gotten used to getting up irrespective of the one hour time difference. Really not too much to report on the weight-loss progress since I spent the last few days burning off what I put on all last week...

Royal Commissions not being Followed

Posted on March 13, 2008
Seriously!I sometimes almost wonder why governments even bother to call Royal Commissions on anything anymore. So many recommendations are always made, yet so few are truly ever followed.

Light and Sleep, Gym Time, and Law Ball

Posted on March 11, 2008
Even though I like the thought of the extra hour of light, I am not a fan of losing an hour of sleep. This morning, while I normally get up at 6:30 a.m., I was unable to wake up until 7:30 a.m. and am still tired as I type. I hope that I can get back into a good sleep/awake routine by tomorrow...

Apartment, Compliments, Law Ball, and Paper

Posted on March 07, 2008
I think I may have a new place before June hits. I went apartment hunting today, and while the first two were nice and all, the third place absolutely blew me away. Albeit a bit pricy, but the location is great (five minute walk from work and about eight minutes from Nubody?s), the place is incredibly gorgeous, and it has just about everything that I want (especially coin less laundry)...

Junk Food Ban Advertisement

Posted on March 04, 2008
I am not a doctor, but I do agree with this one.I think this might be a start in addition to a lot of other things that need to be done. I blogged about this one quite some time ago. Also take note of the second page; ??more than 50 per cent of children living on native reserves fall into the same category [of overweight or obese]...

Giving Thanks

Posted on March 01, 2008
The final tally is in. I have lost a total of 20 pounds for the month of February. Good god does it ever feel good. I am still going to keep this up.I still think about last year a lot; Clint dying, the depression and sadness that I went though, the struggles and the pain, and all the weight that I gained because of it...

Final Fantasy VI Advance and Leap Year

Posted on February 29, 2008
A few days ago, a friend of mine from undergrad was able to win me a copy of Final Fantasy VI Advance for the Game Boy Advance (it was originally released in North America in 1994 as Final Fantasy III). This re-lease is going to have everything about the original game plus some added extras here and there...

Paper, Working-out, Movies, and Apartments

Posted on February 28, 2008
Reading Week is coming along. I got almost all my readings done for my paper topic. I think I can finish them today and get cracking at a theme/idea.Working-out is the same (which is a good thing). I am still making progress, but I did take the day off yesterday because my knee was somewhat bothering me...

Clothes and Reading Week

Posted on February 22, 2008
Last night, I went out and bought some new clothes. My regular clothes were becoming a bit too big and baggy on me. Plus I also got a shorter belt because the one I have now is actually a bit too long.I must admit; it definitely feels great to be able to purchase and wear smaller clothes again...

Sunlight, Daylight, and Progress

Posted on February 20, 2008
Since I decided to make the full-time switch to working-out in the mornings, I?ve come to truly appreciate how the sun raises up earlier and earlier each day. Back in January, I recall how it was still dark shortly after 7:00 a.m. Now, there is some light in the sky even before 7:00 a...

FAAY

Posted on February 18, 2008
It?s the seventeenth profile down this year.Thank god I submitted a different picture this year. I was sort of getting sick of the old one.*Ego inflates by another billion pointsNow back to editing the yearbook.

Write-ups, Topics, New Routine, Stories, and Private

Posted on February 11, 2008
The write-ups for the yearbook have been coming in. While it?s always impossible to get everyone, we are getting a lot nevertheless, so I?m very pleased with that.I?ve been switching too many topics for my paper course this term, but after some pondering, I think I finally settled down on something So for today, I?ll be doing nothing by looking up articles and books to see where I can go with this...

Football, Cardio, and Stories

Posted on February 04, 2008
Yesterday was the first time I ever watched the Superbowl. I was never much of a football fan, but I did watch the championship games back when I was at Saint Mary's University. I did play flag football here and there in intramurals and I liked it a lot...

Working-out and Third Year

Posted on January 25, 2008
Well so far so good; working-out in the mornings is working-out for me (pardon the pun). I wasn?t too sure about it at first because in undergrad, I did some morning work-outs, only to be exhausted for the rest of the day, and just decided to keep it in the evenings or night...

Mornings

Posted on January 20, 2008
Just to switch things up for a bit for now, I am going to start working-out in the mornings before school instead of at night like I have been doing since I started back up at the gym. Obviously, if I find things run better for me in terms of scheduling, etc? then I may just stick with it...

Aboriginal Population, City Living, and Home

Posted on January 15, 2008
The Aboriginal population is on the rise, especially for the younger ones.I am not too surprised that the Aboriginal population has decreased from on-reserve and increasing off-reserve either, given that young people may want to try living in a city for once as opposed to a reserve...

Gym, Last Post, and Work

Posted on January 13, 2008
Good news is that I am keeping up with the gym quite well. Considering I am paying good money for it, I may as well better be. It is difficult accurately measuring my progress. I was 236 pounds a little over a week ago, and am now down to 232 pounds. I can?t say it?s all fat loss though because my muscle mass would also increase my weight...

Aboriginal Opportunity, Success, Education, and Future (warning: very long entry)

Posted on January 10, 2008
So okay! This post is long overdue (and VERY long, but I did my best to note my own seemingly contradictions and tried to address them: comments always welcomed), but here goes. Back in early December (or was it late-November?) there was some interesting news that half of all Aboriginal people do not graduate...

Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility and Second Term

Posted on January 09, 2008
Today was our first day of Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility (for those in the second term anyway). I must say the course is pretty interesting thus far, especially how lawyers are viewed by the general public (it did confirm to what I was expecting, but no surprise really)...

Gym, Mental Disability Law, Holidays, and Wii

Posted on January 03, 2008
Good god does it ever feel good to get back to the gym or what? I started up again back at Nubody?s two days before the New Year began, and after a few days of getting back into the swing of things (I needed to increase the protein intake to help speed up the muscle recovery), I feel pretty good...

Indian Residential School Settlement Money

Posted on December 21, 2007
On my reserve, the firsts of the Indian Residential School settlement money is starting to come in for many of the survivors. While I think the amount that they are receiving does not make up for a robbed childhood, lost language, and an attack on a people, what I said back in my May 2006 blog still stands true for me...

First Semester, Yearbook, I Am Legend, and Monday

Posted on December 15, 2007
It feels strange being at the apartment for so long. I have studied at the law school so much that I almost forgot what it was like to be bored at the apartment. But alas; Evidence is done, so is the first semester. I got one semester left, and while I want to say that I am excited, I think, like April 2007, I am just a bit exhausted and beat to truly appreciate and realize it just yet...

First Semester, Third Year

Posted on December 14, 2007

Exams

Posted on December 10, 2007

Well I am not happy right now.

Audition and School Work

Posted on November 11, 2007
Well this is probably my worst kept secret in ages, but here goes; I auditioned for a play this morning for the second semester. It?s actually with the Saint Mary's University Drama Society (SMUDS), which I was a member of for five years. I got the invite to audition some days ago, and seeing how I will be down to nine credit hours in the second term (something which I have not done since my first year of undergrad), I figured that I could spare some more time into it...

No Mercy

Posted on November 10, 2007
This week has been filled with good news.As you know, I was a huge wrestling junkie growing up. I definitely am not so much nowadays, but I still try to know what?s happening a quarter of the time anyway. Plus, you all know that I was also (and kind of to the same extent at times, still am) a huge video game junkie as well...

Celine Dion

Posted on November 07, 2007
Probably the greatest news I heard today.I?m too excited for August 23, 2008. Who wants to wait all-night in a lineup with me when tickets go on sale?

Hurricane, Home, and Zombie Story

Posted on November 03, 2007
There?s a scheduled Hurricane (well post-tropical storm) on its way later today. I was in Halifax when the last major Hurricane came, living on the ninth floor of my respective building. To be frank, it was not really that fun since the power went out early and the building felt as if it was rocking back and forth...

Basement, Story, and Day Before

Posted on October 30, 2007
For the first time in a year, I am actually studying downstairs in the law library basement. It actually reminds me more of being in 1L than 2L (since I was almost always downstairs for 1L).I saw a trailer and read up about the upcoming movie that was based upon the book I Am Legend...

Obesity Debate

Posted on October 23, 2007
Last night I was reading The Globe and Mail online. An article I was interested in was one about how schools are blamed for childhood obesity. When I went to the comments section, the trend was going back and forth as to who was truly to blame; parents, or schools...

Friend, Story, and Evidence

Posted on October 15, 2007
Last Monday on Thanksgiving was the one year anniversary of when Clint was found. I initially didn?t even want to blog about that at all as I just wanted to keep to myself about it, but there is a nice story that did happen last Monday. One of Clint?s friends from New York called the reserve on that same day, asking for him...

Ninteen Eighty-Four and Shout Out

Posted on October 09, 2007
I finally finished reading Nineteen Eighty-Four last night by George Orwell. I must say that it is probably one of the best works of fiction that I have ever read.I couldn?t help but notice how much Metal Gear Solid 2 seems to resemble it so much.Such a great read...

Story Update

Posted on September 30, 2007
Just a quick update on something that I have not blogged about in months; my zombie story!Great news is that I?m now up to approximately 143 pages (using the proposed manuscript format, font, and style). I?m at the part of the writing that was the original inspiration for me to do the story in the first place...

Recruitment Trip

Posted on September 23, 2007
Wednesday I left for Sydney with a few IB&M students as well as the director of the initiative. It was nice to see the east side of the island in September for the first time since 1999. Thursday was the Barrister?s meeting at the Membertou Trade and Convention Centre...

Another Switch

Posted on September 13, 2007
Just another class switch.I left Intellectual Property II and jumped into Secured Transactions. While I tried to avoid the 8:30 a.m. classes, I rather that than a Friday morning one.Besides, Secured Transactions is on the Bar exam, and Intellectual Property isn?t.

Better, New Students, Third Year, and Thankful

Posted on September 10, 2007
The good news is that, in addition to third year starting up, I am actually feeling much better. The moving in itself took a physical toll on my, but combined with the sickness that I caught, I really hit downhill fast. I was never so sore from being so sick in all my life...
