Its About The Money

Posted on October 21, 2007
Just so no one has any confusion. That's why I practice law.Sure the various assorted characters I deal with, the freedom, getting to hear myself talk are fun, but at the end of the day this is about making money as pleasantly as possible. Its not accepted to say that in the law and to some extent the medical profession...

Divorce Dining!

Posted on October 21, 2007
Divorce DiningLast week the ABA family law section had its meeting in Memphis. Finding out about this at the last moment I had to cancel an eagerly anticipated trip to Philadelphia with my most valued client who is an avid reader of this blog. The family law conference began with the obligatory rooftop party at the Peabody...

Circa This!

Posted on October 04, 2007
Went with law clerk to Circa! the new restaurant by John Bragg. In the Peabody place compress Circa has a dark contemporary décor with not quite enough light. The menu is very very heavy. The appetizers were almost exclusively shellfish which conflicted with my law clerk who is still pretending to belong to some religious cult...

Work Work Work

Posted on September 17, 2007
Haven?t tried that many new places lately. I went back to N?awlins at the Horseshoe which has recovered somewhat from the loss of Chef Kelly. The prices are no longer a great deal, but a great place. They are opening a new Delta Style type restaurant where the Italian place was...

Willing Ham

Posted on September 06, 2007
While I was eating the incomparable pork dumplings at Wang's I ran into the perennial mayorial candiate John Willingham and his wife. A very pleasant couple, they offered me a bottle of their steak spice, though I didn't mention that I'd endorsed Herenton...

Oxford!

Posted on August 27, 2007
Oxford ? Recently went back to Oxford. Thought I?d do an overview for anyone planning to go down there to see some football! On or near SquareCity Grocery- Unarguable the finest and most consistent place in Oxford. Their shrimp and grits are noted but for first class entrees there is no place better...

Movies

Posted on August 14, 2007
All watched at the downtown muvico which is nice but the snack bar needs better more interesting selections. (Specifically, the candy bars are straight out of the 70's.I saw two movies the last couple of weeks, the Simpson's Movie and the Bourne Ultimatum...

Into the Boonies !

Posted on July 25, 2007
Even more of an adventure then going past the Wolfchase, there is a town to the north of the Mill. For strange reasons leading to need for interview of my services in place I ventured up to the far far north past intermodals and abandoned gas marts and other shady areas...

Irish Grub

Posted on July 21, 2007
Tried the scotch eggs at Dan McGuiness. Very unique and quite a bit of sausage. I'll have to remember they serve breakfast. Also had the open faced prime rib which was admirable but not perfect.Went to Bluefin for the Sushi lunch a couple of times, very pleasant place...

Ghost Restaurants

Posted on July 21, 2007
Since I haven't tried much worth writing up lately in terms of restaurants I though I'd go over my memories of past dining experience now closed. At the corner of Mt. Moriah and Winchester in the back of the shopping center was Eastern China. A large auditorium like cavern, much like the Communist dining venue in a travel chanel picture it featured sweet and sour pork and the staples...

Random Irritant

Posted on July 15, 2007
I've now noticed that I have to pick a password with like 8 letters with at least one capital but no more than three and at least two but no less than 4 digits or something of the like. What's really fun is changing passwords.I remember in lawschool they made you change every four weeks...

Republican vs. Democrat

Posted on July 13, 2007
A dissappearing distinction to a Memphis lawyer. Once upon a time, there were two political parties with differing philosophies on governance within the United States. That has changed into two political parties with almost identical philosophies and radically different views on the functional make-up of reality...

Impeach The President

Posted on July 13, 2007
Or not. Whatever, seriously why change now.Its not as if anyone doesn't know if they feel like knowing that Mr. Bushapproves of torture, dirty political tricks, and lying about national security matters. And disapproves of doing anything. I read a study once saying that Republicans have the highest life satisfaction of any group due to a lack of empathy...

What Mother thinks of Me Being A Lawyer

Posted on July 09, 2007
Since someone asked. Mother and father weren?t too happy about me going to law school. Dad wanted me to get an MBA. However; since, before I went to lawschool I was going to work in shorts and polos as an equity trader (glorified daytrader), dad was happy I was going to any graduate program...

Herenton for Mayor!

Posted on July 07, 2007
Memphis is a city with a soul founded on character. Mayor Herenton clearly has character, also he's not afraid to call people out. I'm really tempted to endorse Herman Morris. However, apparently he was involved with MLGW in some way and from his website took some sort of stand for integrity...
