: My Memphis Attorney!Herenton for Mayor!
By attorneydavid

However, apparently he was involved with MLGW in some way and from his website took some sort of stand for integrity. But he just looks so innocent. That's not what Memphis needs right not. Mr. Morris clearly would lend a grandfatherly I just baked cookies character to the Mayor's office, but that's not the kind of strong non-conflict avoiding ethos needed in Memphis right now.
Another attorney in the running would be Carol Chumney, a current council member. I couldn't find a photo so here's her website to look at. http://www.chumneyformayor.com/
Clearly Carol is not much of a character.
So unless AC Wharton enters the race I think Herenton is the logical choice. From my in and out observation of Memphis the last decade or so its been a constant stream of improvement. I read a crime study stating the rate is still less than 1996. Crime rates fluctuate both Chumney and Morris have jumped on a recent surge.
Herenton is definitely right, Memphis has suffered dramatically from scare whitey politicing. Drive around the North Loop Notice there's a gigantic swath of undeveloped land in Memphis, and you can drive out quite a ways on I-40 and see city. This is clearly due to an exodus of caucasians.
Is it time for a change? Certainly, but until an interesting positive about Memphis politician comes along Herenton makes sense. Having survived some sort of amateurish attempt at taking him down by the negativist forces, Memphis would be ill-served to elect one of them.
Now if you absolutely can't vote for Herenton then do Morris, he's interesting I ran into him the other day at the Farmer's Market.
