Venetian Resort Lawsuit
Faces Overtime Class Action
Venetian Resort Faces Overtime Class Action
A class action lawsuit has been brought against the Las Vegas Venetian Resort, by a former banquet server, alleging that the resort did not pay overtime wages that were due.In July 2005, the state of Nevada implemented a new overtime law, which essentially requires resorts like the Venetian to pay their employees overtime wages. Up to July 1, 2005, many hotel and resort employees were exempt from overtime wages either because they made too much money or received gratuities or service fees charged to banqueting customers.
However, the Venetian lawsuit says, "Defendant has either required or allowed the plaintiffs to work in excess of 40 hours per week without the payment of overtime wages."
