Seven months in back pay resolves pepper spray dispute.

Chattanooga, TN: (May-26-08) The school board in Chattanooga brought charges against Joshuah Barber, a former assistant principal, accusing him of pepper spraying students. The suit was filed after Barber was fired in October 2007, after being accused of using pepper spray to break up a fight between two female students at Brainerd High School. Records show that his legal counsel requested a settlement, rather than a protracted legal hearing about the firing. Sources stated that in a recent development in the case, the school board agreed to a settlement that allows Barber to be demoted to a classroom teacher. Under the terms of the deal, Barber won’t be an administrator, but can return to the classroom at a lower pay grade.
