Negligent Death Lawsuit

Family of New York Times reporter awarded undisclosed settlement for medical malpractice.

Hospital Staph

London, UK: (Jan-18-08) British actress Leslie Ash brought a medical malpractice lawsuit against London's Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, alleging that she contracted a dangerous infection, due to the hospital's negligence. Records state that the celebrity contracted Methicillin-Sensitive Staphylococcus Aureus after seeking treatment at the facility for a punctured lung and two cracked ribs she sustained by falling off her bed onto a table.

As part of a settlement reached, sources close to the case revealed that the hospital agreed to pay the actress $10 million in an out-of-court settlement to resolve allegations. It is estimated that she was paid on what she was earning at the time of her 2004 illness and what she might have earned in the future. Additionally, hospital officials have apologized to the actress, and claimed that they reviewed and improved their procedures in the wake of the incident.
