Homeowners Awarded $475,000 In Plumbing Class Action

Homeowners in North Las Vegas who brought a class action suit against Majestic Plumbing Inc, have been awarded a $475,000 settlement. The settlement is $50,000 more than the plaintiffs had requested.

Majestic is just one of a dozen plumbers named in the suit, and reportedly the first defendant to take the case to trial and not seek a pre-trial settlement.

The suit alleged that Kitec fittings fail through a process called dezincification in which water removes zinc from brass plumbing fittings and turns it into silt, which collects in the pipes. Over time, the accumulation causes blockages and can cause the water lines to rupture.

The settlement is for owners of 40 affected homes.
