Sony to Pay $18.5 Million For Patent Infringement

An $18.5 million verdict has been reached in favor or Agere Systems for patent infringement by Sony Corporation.

Agere owns and licenses patents in the semiconductor, wireless communications, audio, optical electronics and other fields. In a suit filed March 1, 2006 they filed a suit alleging Sony was infringing the '730 Patent via various Walkman products as well as Sony PlayStation Portable, and Sony Memory Stick Duo.
