Public Safety Radio Lawsuit
M/A-COM Inc. to pay $4 million settlement in overcharging lawsuit.
Public Safety Radio
Albany, NY: (Apr-28-08) The New York State Comptroller's office brought a lawsuit against M/A-COM Inc., a MA, based division of Tyco Electronics, alleging that the company which was in charge of creating a statewide public safety radio network overcharged state agencies, billing them for services that was not provided. State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli filed the suit against the Tyco subsidiary, which was in a contract since September 2005 to create the radio network, which will serve all public safety agencies in the state. As part of a settlement reached in the case, sources stated that the two sides agreed to resolve the dispute after M/A-COM agreed to pay $4 million to the state. DiNapoli stated that the settlement agree with pre-existing contracts with three state agencies involving public safety radios. Company officials said that M/A-COM agreed to the settlement without admitting any wrongdoing, and that it was a business decision that would avoid the costs of prolonged litigation.
