Landowners Win Pollution Suit Against Continental Carbon
A $10.5 million settlement has been reached in a class-action lawsuit against Continental Carbon Co.
The suit was brought by about 1,800 landowners and the Ponca Tribe of Indians over alleged pollution damages caused by black dust from a carbon black plant in Ponca City.
The terms of the settlement also reportedly state that should the Ponca City Continental Carbon plant cause pollution in the future, Continental Carbon will repair the injuries they have caused, and make immediate payment as compensation for damages they have caused.
