Teen Sues Amazon over Lost Homework

A teenager in Michigan, and owner of an Amazon Kindle, has filed a class action lawsuit alleging that the online bookseller rendered his study notes on 1984, by George Orwell, completely useless when the company deleted the digital copy of the book from his Kindle.

Recently, Amazon went into its customers ebook readers and deleted the digital copies of 1984 and a second book by George Orwell, because the company discovered it was in copyright violation. Amazon reimbursed its clients for the cost of the digital books and issued a public apology.

However, the suit launched by 17-year old Justin D. Gawronski alleges that Amazon never indicated to customers it had the ability and right to remotely delete content from Kindles and iPhones, and that this information is relevant to customers when making a decision about whether or not to purchase a Kindle.
