Running

Posted on November 05, 2009
I had an awesome run last night. I started out a slow pace and steadily progressed until I was basically running as fast as I could go for the last two minutes. It was the first time in a long time that I felt as strong as I used to feel back when I was competing in college...

Busy, But Not Stressed, But Maybe Slightly Angry

Posted on November 04, 2009
I have way too many outstanding projects with deadlines fast approaching, but somehow, I have managed to avoid being overly stressed. I think working out every night definitely helps me manage my stress levels. It probably also helps that my husband is super laid back...

Chicago is weird...

Posted on November 02, 2009
Ok, well technically, I live in a far north suburb of Chicago...so I should say North Chicagoland is weird...Why do I think it is weird? Well, my husband and I went Halloween candy shopping at around noon on Saturday. We went overboard, buying 20 bags of assorted candy for all of the neighborhood kids on our street...

Daily Emails & Halloween!

Posted on October 30, 2009
Living away from all of my friends and family has added a daily complication to my life. I am slammed at work and do not get home until late at night, so I pretty much have to email everyone. Which means that every morning before I start cranking through my work I go through all of my emails and reply to them...

Emergency Pants

Posted on October 28, 2009
I apparently need emergency pants (i.e., spare pants in case of coffee spills, etc.).My day in a nutshell:So I go to lunch with two co-workers. We drive in one of their cars, a Jeep Commander. I sit in the back where his kids sit.. Anyway, we go to the place, we eat, and then leave and go back to work...

Have You Ever...

Posted on September 28, 2009
Unknowingly broken your bright blue pen and then touched your face? Yup, that would be what happened to me today.

Updates

Posted on September 28, 2009
Last week was slightly crazy for me. I was in the office by 5:00 to 5:15 am every single day last week, and did not head home until about 7:00 pm on most of those nights. At least I know that I will meet my billable hours goals this month. Days like those are strange because I get in to the office and then the next thing I know it is time to go home...

Labor Day Weekend!

Posted on September 04, 2009
I am looking forward to the long weekend! I am desperately hoping that I will not walk out of the office today with a stack of work that has to be completed by Tuesday morning. We do not have any specific plans, other than relaxing and playing outside as much as possible! Long weekends make me miss living out west...

Team Projects

Posted on September 02, 2009
I have been working on a team project with two other co-workers over the past few weeks. It has been a simple project, with each of us researching a few examples of recent chapter 11 filings. The only real issue with this project has been that the default team leader holds meetings to discuss the project almost everyday...

Disgusting

Posted on August 26, 2009
I just finished up a conference call with a major client. I sat next to a junior attorney during the call. This junior attorney picked his nose, popped his knuckles, and then proceeded to bite every single one of his nails throughout the 1.5 hour long call...

Random Updates

Posted on August 26, 2009
1. I have to speak on a practice community conference call tomorrow, regarding some newly proposed legislation. I am super nervous to present my thoughts to the hundreds of associates at my firm. The fact that I have been asked to do a lot of research in this area makes me think that I might be transferred to a different team at the beginning of the new fiscal year...

Football!

Posted on August 19, 2009
I went to a preseason NFL game last Saturday, the Packers vs. the Browns. Of course, the Packers won the game 17 to 0. I know it is only a preseason game, but gosh, the Packers looked awesome. It was the most balanced game I think I have seen them play in a long time...

Mini-Vacation

Posted on July 31, 2009
I am flying to Colorado Springs next week for my little sister's Acceptance Day ceremony. Acceptance Day is the day that the cadets officially graduate from basic training and become full-fledged cadets at the Air Force Academy. It is the first time that the cadets are allowed to have contact with family and friends...

Eye Issues

Posted on July 31, 2009
Somehow I managed to get a piece of a potato chip in my eye. I not only frequently spill coffee on myself, I also apparently harm myself with food. I never realized how dangerous eating and drinking could be!

Good morning

Posted on July 20, 2009
Good morning everyone! My attitude has improved since last week. I cannot explain why, but for some reason I was in a bad mood all week long. I took last Friday off from work and caught up with random errands, and now I feel refreshed mentally and physically...

One of those days!

Posted on July 13, 2009
I am not exactly sure why, but I am feeling slightly grouchy today. I feel overwhelmed by my projects at work and if I did not have twenty things due today I would probably have called in sick this morning. I hope my attitude improves, or it is going to be a long day, and possibly a long week.

Nervous for littlest sis...

Posted on July 10, 2009
88 Air Force Academy cadets have been quarantined for swine flu....... I hope lil sis is alright. The worst part is that we have no contact with her and do not know if she is one of the affected cadets.

Not Enough Time

Posted on July 08, 2009
Typical DayWake up at 4:30 am and run for 20-40 minutes. Get ready and head out the door by 6 am. Arrive at work between 6:30 am-7:00 am and crank through client files and business proposals and sit in on client conference calls or meetings until 6:00 pm or 7:00 pm...

Boot Camp and Random Stuff

Posted on July 07, 2009
I have a stack of letters that I need to send out to my littlest sister this week. She is at the Air Force Academy boot camp, which means that we cannot talk to her until mid-August. Here comes the bragging about my little sis. I am so proud of everything she has accomplished...

Dear Secretary

Posted on July 07, 2009
Dear Secretary,I treat you with respect everyday. I do not get mad or yell at you or even criticize you when you hand me back documents with typos on them everyday. I do not get mad or yell at you whenever you get angry with me for handing you something to work on...

Duh

Posted on July 02, 2009
It is always fun when you drive 35-40 minutes to work, only to realize that you left your computer and work papers at home.

Almost the weekend!

Posted on July 01, 2009
It feels like Friday at work this morning. My boss is out for the week. Many of my co-workers are also out for the week. It is just me and a small group of fellow employees churning out client documents today and likely, tomorrow. As noted in previous posts, I actually enjoy when the office is quiet...

Overwhelmed again....

Posted on June 22, 2009
I went from being bored out of my mind at work to totally overwhelmed again. Why is there never a happy median? I have three non-billable projects due this week (which are not my favorite type of projects). Additionally, I have four billable projects and a business proposal also due this week...

Work Anniversary

Posted on June 02, 2009
One-year ago today, I started working at my present job!

Playoffs and everything else..

Posted on May 28, 2009
Well, apparently the fact that my kickball team has not won a game does not prevent us from being in the playoffs. We play some undefeated team tonight. My quad is starting to feel better, so I should be able to play. However, the only way I can kick without pain is by keeping my leg straight when I kick the ball (which means I can not swing it back at an angle)...

Ouch!

Posted on May 22, 2009
Well, I pulled one of my quadriceps muscles playing kickball last night. And if that was not embarrassing enough, I fell flat on my face while diving to catch a ball. Last night did not go well for me or my team, haha. The highlight of the night was when our college intern scored our first and ONLY run of the night!Anyway, my leg is beyond sore this morning...

Double Header

Posted on May 21, 2009
I am participating in a double header at kickball tonight. Yup, I am on the corporate kickball team. My team never wins. We are very similar to the Bad News Bears. Wish us losers a bit of luck, cause we will need it.

Morning Routine

Posted on May 20, 2009
I am a lucky person...Every morning while I am ironing my clothes, my husband makes me a lunch and a thermos of coffee for work. How freakin nice is that?

Brain Fog

Posted on May 19, 2009
I came in to work early this morning, to finish up a document before my boss got in to the office. However, my brain did not want to cooperate. I would open up a folder and then almost immediately forget why I opened the folder. I would pull out a document, only to forget why I pulled out that particular document...

Updates

Posted on May 15, 2009
I went to the Cubs game yesterday with a bunch of my co-workers. It was a lot of fun eating hot dogs and watching the game. The only downside to the game was that the Cubs won (I am an avid Brewers fan). I look forward to dragging my co-workers up to Miller Park for a Brewers game within the next few weeks...

I have a problem...

Posted on April 28, 2009
I have a problem. It does not matter how careful I am, I spill coffee on myself or my desk or my keyboard or computer on almost a freaking daily basis. It is getting ridiculous! I cannot plan my daily wardrobe based on whether someone will be able to tell if I spilled coffee on my lap...

Sunny Day

Posted on April 24, 2009
It is supposed to be 87 degrees today! I am stoked for a warm and sunny day here in Chicago. Heck, when it was only 56 degrees on Tuesday I made my husband play basketball outside with me after work. I am still deciding what outdoor adventure I will make my husband endure after work today...

Vacation?

Posted on April 01, 2009
My bosses are all on spring break vacation this week. I asked if I could take Monday off and was told no. I took last Friday off, and ended up working from home anyway. I need a freakin vacation, whether my boss agrees or not. Just a day or two would be nice...

TGIF!!!!!!

Posted on March 20, 2009
Hopefully I will not have to work this weekend. I could use some relaxation.Happy Friday everyone!

Law School

Posted on March 19, 2009
A lot of people have asked me if I thought law school was worth the money. My answer has always been that I made it worth the money. As is the case in with any type of school, law school does not force you to learn, provide you with a job, and it certainly does not provide you with automatic competence...

The next famous lawyer/author!

Posted on March 19, 2009
One of my law school buddies has made it to the quarterfinals of the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Competition. You can download a free excerpt of the novel here. I cannot wait to get a copy of the entire book! Awesome job Matt!

Updates

Posted on March 17, 2009
Friday was a crazy-busy work day. I sprinted from one client file to the next and sat in on a bunch of conference calls in between drafting reports. To cap it off, a few of my clients did not send me the data and files that I needed to complete their projects...

Competence

Posted on March 12, 2009
I am finally half-way competent in my specialty at work and it feels awesome. My analysis and preliminary client reports are usually error free and I can answer a fair number of questions on client calls. The best part about feeling competent is that I have really started to enjoy my job...

Am sick of getting sick!

Posted on February 25, 2009
It seems like I feel ill once every two weeks or so. I cannot figure out if I keep catching bugs from my co-workers, who keep catching bugs from their kids.. Or do I keep getting ill because I have been working too much?? Or is it a combination of both? All I know is that I feel sick again today...

Weekend, what weekend?

Posted on February 22, 2009
I billed twenty hours this weekend. Need I say more?

Office Silence

Posted on February 18, 2009
I am usually the first person from my practice group to arrive at the office in the morning. I love it! The lights are all off on my floor of the building. There is complete silence on the floor. And I am able to finish a lot of my projects before my boss shows up for the day...

Weekend Plans

Posted on February 13, 2009
Sleep in...Eat breakfast and read the WSJ with the hubby. Play Frisbee and run with the dog...Mindless reading of mindless novels....And...finish up a few work-related projects!

Those darn attorneys....

Posted on February 13, 2009
For clarification purposes, I did in fact graduate from law school last year. However, I currently work as a business consultant, not as an attorney.Anyway, now for my story... I have participated on a few client calls lately, where our client corporation has had their outside counsel sit in on the call as well...

No Sleep...

Posted on February 05, 2009
When interviewing for my current job last year, I was told that the work-life balance at this company was much better than I would experience at a law firm. Ummm, I do not think it is possible to work more than I currently do. I have worked 13-15 hour days for the last few weeks...

Busy, as usual

Posted on January 27, 2009
Work: I have been working long-long hours the last few weeks. Everyone at the firm told me that work slows down in December and January, but so far that has not been the case. The worse the economy gets, the more help our clients seem to need from us...

Random Dreams

Posted on December 30, 2008
For some reason I have been dreaming a lot about pole vaulting. The dreams are always the same....I return to my college track team and step in for an injured teammate and compete. It is a very stressful dream because I think about how unprepared I am for the competition...

Billing

Posted on December 30, 2008
One of the higher ups at work decided to teach me and the other new associates how to do the billing for our corporate clients. Luckily, I am only in charge of 5 client accounts. The process is crazy. Coordinating between our corporate headquarters and our world wide locations for any hours worked on behalf of my clients is so time consuming...

Travel Nightmares

Posted on December 24, 2008
Last Friday I flew out to SLC, so I could drive back to Chicago with my husband. The interesting story is not that I flew out to SLC, but the adventure of getting to the airport, and eventually getting to SLC.So, I arranged to be picked up by a shuttle service to get to the airport at a reasonable time...

Glad I Don't Live in NY!

Perfumed...

Posted on December 09, 2008
A co-worker of mine has recently begun wearing a noticeably strong perfume. It is giving me a headache every time I have to work with her. Everybody has noticed and agreed her perfume is horrible. So, yesterday I knocked on her door to ask her a question about a project...

Life after law school.....

Posted on November 15, 2008
Work is going well. This week was less busy for me, so I spent a lot of it helping other co-workers with their client files. And on Friday I found out that I am going to start training in a speciality area that I am extremely interested in. I am very excited for the opportunity to train in this area...

Random Updates

Posted on November 04, 2008
I am nervous for the election results tonight. Of course I will be up as late as necessary, watching the results pour in. I voted a few weeks ago and so today I will just be a passive observer. In addition to obsessing over the election results, I will be busy all day at work...

Palin and Troopergate

Posted on November 04, 2008
Sarah Palin was vindicated on the Troopergate allegations late last night. Of course the front page stories on most media websites are not related to the Troopergate investigation, but that Palin's health is excellent. Nice, the media smears her for weeks on this Troopergate issue, and then doesn't cover the story when it is positive for her...

My Halloween..

Posted on November 01, 2008
I spent all Halloween night with a bucket of candy on my lap, waiting for little ones to come by. And not one child came by! So, I am left with a bucket of candy, that I apparently will have to eat all by myself! I am hoping that I will be able to bring it in to work on Wednesday morning, as a post-election party favor...

My morning..

Posted on October 30, 2008

Weird Interview

Posted on October 26, 2008

Updates

Posted on October 19, 2008
I am still very busy at work. I have a list of projects on the whiteboard in my office. Every day I knock one off the list, only to have another one added to it. It is overwhelming, but also exciting at the same time. I am used to feeling overwhelmed, because that is what I felt like in law school 24 x 7...

Voter Fraud

Posted on October 13, 2008
Is anyone surprised about all of the voter fraud going on in swing states? Felons, children, and even dead people are being registered to vote. I guess the acorn doesn't really fall far from the tree, does it?

Sports

Posted on September 28, 2008
My Packers are self destructing. Aaron Rodgers is letting himself get frustrated early in the game, which is hurting the Packers offense. And the play calling has been pretty bad lately. I know that McCarthy wants to get Grant back in to the offense, but come on, start handing off to Brandon Jackson instead for awhile...

The One-Upper

Posted on September 16, 2008
I work with a one-upper (someone who has to outdo every comment or story I discuss). It does not matter if she actually knows about the subject I am talking about, she has an opinion and it will always differ from whatever my perspective is. It is seriously getting to the point that I cannot stand to hear her voice...

T.G.I.F. !!!

Posted on September 12, 2008
I am ecstatic that it is Friday. This work week has beaten me up pretty badly, and I need some relaxation this weekend. Even though work has been brutal, it has also been good. I have developed a bit of a specialty at work, and now have people coming to me fairly routinely to do certain things...

Politics in the classrooom/workplace

Posted on September 11, 2008
I do not care what party or belief system you adhere to, if you are a teacher or boss, please keep your political opinions to yourself. It is slightly intimidating to have a teacher flat out make fun of your beliefs and state that he thinks all people in a particular party are stupid...

Update

Posted on September 01, 2008

Business Friendly States

Posted on August 07, 2008
Forbes has a great article about the effects of being an anti-business friendly state. The article is entitled, "Anti-Business States Awash in Red Ink." The article notes that the states that push businesses out of their state, through increased regulations and taxation, often rely on the federal government to bail them out for their budget shortfalls...

Strange

Posted on August 06, 2008
I saw the weirdest sight on the way home from work yesterday. In the rear seat of the minivan in front of me was a child (around 8yrs old or so) buzzing his hair off with an electric razor. No one in the van seemed to notice or care that this child was both shaving his head in the car and probably making a gross mess by doing so! Strange!

Reflections about my new job.

Posted on July 31, 2008
I work extremely long hours during the work week. Umm, going corporate does not mean a straight 9-5 schedule. My job is a million times more complicated than what I thought it would be. There are so many aspects to completing a large corporate transaction...

Bad Day

Posted on July 31, 2008
I woke up extremely tired today. I pretty much showered with my eyes closed this morning. After I got myself ready for work I headed out to my car. Because this day is destined to be bad, there was a ticket sitting on my windshield. I would care more about the ticket, except I am too dang tired to care...

Random Quotes and Thoughts

Posted on July 29, 2008
Thomas Sowell has a few good quotes in his "Random Thoughts" post today. Here is my favorite: "Government bailouts are like potato chips: You can't stop with just one. " Between the stimulus checks and corporate bailouts this country is acting crazy.I know we all enjoy having a few extra bucks in our pockets from the stimulus checks, but that cannot be the answer to every economic issue this country faces...

Interview Follow-Ups

Posted on July 29, 2008
The WSJ has a great article about interview follow-up emails. A lot of us now adays use emoticons or shorthand when texting or emailing friends. Apparently, a lot of us are also using them in interview follow-up emails as well. I am sure a lot of people are not even aware that they are doing so, and if they are, they are probably not aware at how offensive many hiring managers find these practices...

B-day weekend

Posted on July 28, 2008
I had a great b-day weekend. My husband took me shopping and exploring downtown, which was an absolute blast. We also made it to the X-Files movie, which was also pretty cool. And I capped the weekend off my by relaxing Sunday away. The only really negative thing that happened over the weekend was that I have a pretty nasty cut above my nose...

John Edwards

Posted on July 25, 2008

French 35-hour work week goes away!

Posted on July 25, 2008
I think it is great to have a good work/life balance, but you can do so even if you work more than 35 hours a week. I just read an article at Bloomberg, discussing how distraught many white-collar workers are over in France about the dissipation of the 35-hour work week...

Iran is just a small country!

Posted on July 24, 2008
Does anyone else find Obama's Iran policies confusing? I am open to hearing from any Obama supporters on this issue. In May 2008 he said ?Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, these countries are tiny, they don?t pose a serious threat to us.? Then yesterday Obama said ?A nuclear Iran would pose a grave threat and the world must prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon...

Tired

Posted on June 11, 2008

Post Law School Update

Posted on June 10, 2008
Hello everyone! Thought I would give a quick update. I am now living in a new town and working everyday. It feels awesome to actually apply what I learned in law school and receive a paycheck for my efforts! Life is good right now. I don't have anything to complain about...

Update

Posted on May 01, 2008
Well I have no clue what happened to my blog. I am still investigating.Anyway, classes are over. Assuming I pass all of my law school exams this last semester, I will never have to attend a law school class again! What a feeling! I cannot wait to move on to the next chapter of my life...

Lawschool spam

Posted on March 11, 2008
Dear Law School,I am sick of receiving law school spam emails. I do not want any more emails relating to BBQ's, free candy, Barbri, Kaplan, public interest work, etc. I seriously receive about 15-30 a day! Please only forward emails related to my graduation status...

Yucky Commercials

Posted on March 08, 2008

Feeling slammed

Posted on March 04, 2008
March is turning out to be one busy month. I am slammed with reading and outlining, and life in general. We need to paint our house and get the carpets cleaned, in preparation for selling it. Of course, there is a ton more house related stuff we will need to do before we even get to the point to paint and clean the carpets...

Clothing issues...

Posted on February 25, 2008
Back when I was a college athlete I had to purchase bigger sized jeans because my legs were a little too muscular for the pants that actually fit my waist. Anyway, I have not had this clothing dilemma since my competition days, that is, until now. I have been training pretty hard over the last few months, and my legs are getting noticeably bigger...

Hubby gets mega cool points....

I was sitting here doing my corporate tax problems when someone knocked at my door. I opened the door and standing there was a flower delivery person. She was holding the most beautiful arrangement of roses I'd ever seen. Anyway, I accepted the flowers and opened the note, and this is what it said: " Dagny, I love you and am proud of you! Just a couple more months and you will have finished law school and we'll be on our way to Chicago...

Cool

Posted on February 24, 2008
I am heading off to get an oil change, because my Jeep told me to do so. He-he, apparently my new Jeep has a sensor that tells me when the oil is getting too dirty. I am not sure why I think this is so cool, but it is to me! Following my Jeep's first oil change, I'm heading to a Fed-Ex store to send my tax info to the family accountant...

Another Lobes pic.........

I don't know why, but this pic makes me happy. :)

The end is near, well at least it is within sight!!

Posted on February 19, 2008
Nothing exciting to report. The semester is flying by and graduation is in sight! I cannot wait to graduate and move to a new town and start a new job. It is exciting to think that law school will be over in just a few short months. The emotional roller coaster, otherwise known as law school, will eventually end and I will be able to have a life again! I look forward to having weekends back...

Low Productivity

Posted on February 17, 2008
I have not had the most productive weekend in the world. A friend came over and fixed the hole(s) in my apartment wall. And no it was not me or my husband who put holes in the wall. We saw the movie Jumper. Jumper is one of the worst attempts at sci-fi I have seen in awhile...

Best workout ever...

Posted on February 16, 2008
So do you want a strong back? Apparently bowling works out your entire back. I know this because I can barely move this morning. My husband and I bowled three games yesterday and we are both very sore this morning. My hip, back, and my dang hand are all sore! And I consider myself to be somewhat athletic.

Another note to self...Lock your car doors!!

Posted on February 14, 2008
I did not lock my car when running in the store yesterday morning on the way to school. And apparently someone stole my backpack during the five minutes I was looking for dental floss in the store. Luckily, my backpack did not contain my laptop. But the jerky thieves did manage to steal my advanced corporate tax treatise, as well as my class notes and problem sets...

I hate class.

Posted on February 05, 2008
I feel as though going to the majority of my classes is useless. I hate that most of my teachers simply re-read or follow the textbook assignments almost verbatim. If I do the reading, going to class provides no added benefit. I love that going to class has become an absolute waste of my time!

Meet the new Jeep. :)

Posted on February 03, 2008
I traded in my old TJ for a new JK. :) I know most people don't care, but for the Jeepers out there, here are some pics of the new Jeep.

Lazy Weekend

Posted on February 03, 2008
I apparently have a case of senioritis. I remember this feeling from highschool. I know it is my last semester, so I am having a hard time motivating myself to work non stop hours over the weekends. Oh well, once the pressure of outlining for five scheduled exams hits me I should be back to my normal self...

What do you do when...

Posted on January 29, 2008
The professor continually states the law incorrectly? A certain professor obviously hasn't updated their notes in years. It would be nice to know if I need to know the current law, or the pretend, outdated version the professor keeps spouting.

Grade Watch 2008

Posted on January 29, 2008
Yes, I am still waiting on Professor Vail to turn in the property transactions grades. The grades are one week late. We took the exams over a month ago and none of us know how we did. Does anyone else find it odd that we get docked a % on our exams for turning them in late, but nothing happens to professors who habitually turn in late grades?

Semester Update

Posted on January 26, 2008
Grades: Well, this week has been interesting.. I have five out of my six grades from last semester and I am on track for one of my best law school GPA's. It is weird because I clerked so much last semester that I ended up neglecting my studies. I won't say too much more about it because there is always the possibility that my property transactions grade will kill my current stellar GPA...

Note to self

Posted on January 19, 2008
If you put all of your towels in the washer, do not then jump in the shower because you will have no way to get dry! Apparently I did not think about this before jumping in to the shower this morning!

I hate my neighbors....

Posted on January 19, 2008
I live in a downstairs apartment and I absolutely hate it! My upstairs neighbors are so loud! At 5 am every morning their dog wakes up and proceeds to bark for 10 minutes until they tell it to shut up. Then the guy upstairs starts banging doors, dropping things, and walks around with what sounds like weights on his feet! Then after he makes himself something in the blender he is out the door to work, or wherever else it is that he goes...

Random Thoughts

Posted on January 16, 2008
1. I wonder what my morning class will be like. It is a small tax seminar with only three people signed up. I hope the class is not graded with one person getting an A, one person a B, and one person a C. Hmm...2. I am nervous to start clerking again...

I'm back!!!

Posted on January 15, 2008
Holiday break was very relaxing. I read books, played in the snow, and relaxed with family. I also traveled to Utah, Arizona, and California over the break. It was great to get out of PDX and road trip around the southwest a little bit.In addition to road tripping around the southwest I attended some of my husband's geology classes...

Letter to my computer

Posted on December 18, 2007
Dear Computer,Please do not crash tomorrow when I am working on my property transactions final. Obviously, you are angry with me because you tried to screw me over during both my criminal law and ethics exams. As much fun as it is to cry over the lost minutes I endured during both finals, I would greatly appreciate it if you would spare me the same pain during my last final...

Ethics exam

Posted on December 14, 2007
I am currently sitting in a classroom, waiting to take my ethics exam. I should be reviewing my notes, but I way too bored to read and re-read my notes and outline. I plan on finishing up the exam with time to spare, then hitting the climbing gym afterwards for a few hours of fun! We'll see if the exam goes as planned...

Studying Away

Posted on December 12, 2007
I took my criminal law exam on Monday. I feel like I was able to see all of the issues, but I guess I will find out when I get my grade in January. I only have the ethics and property transactions finals left, and then I am off to AZ, UT, and CA for a few weeks of relaxation! I am sure that Lobo will be excited for me to be able to put the books down for awhile and actually play with her everyday...

You have to be joking!!

Posted on December 10, 2007
Someone just walked in to the unscheduled exam room with their own printer!! Umm, burning a CD is seriously not that complicated!!! OMG!!!

Weirdest One L Class...

Posted on December 09, 2007
I have encountered several One L's this semester, though not at the library. In fact, they have been notably absent from the library the whole semester. The One L's this year don't seem concerned or stressed out over the upcoming exams. I understand that my observations are based on only a handful of One L's, but I still find it odd that even a handful of One L's are confident enough not to care about cramming for finals...

Insomnia

Posted on December 05, 2007
I cannot sleep, therefore I am up outlining. Sad.. :(

Campus Abduction

Posted on December 04, 2007
Yesterday an undergraduate student at L & C was dragged in to the nearby woods by some sicko. I have looked all over the local news websites and have been unable to find the sketch of the sicko-abductor anywhere. So I am including the link to the sketck and other information here...

Coffee Hangover

Posted on December 02, 2007
Did you know that it is possible to have a coffee hangover? I studied at the sports bar with a friend last Thursday, up until the Packer game started. While studying for a few hours before the game we both downed a pot of coffee. Then once the game started, the bartender brought over a huge carafe of coffee and left it on our table for us...

So whats up?

Posted on November 14, 2007
Well, I do not have anything exciting to report. I pretty much work on papers, outlines, and my rock climbing skills each week. I would complain, except that I feel like I am doing ok with my workload, now that I have taken a break from work. This is the first week I have had off since last May, and what a difference does the spare 20 hours a week seem to make! So life is good...

Yes...I did in fact graduate from high school!

Posted on November 09, 2007
I accepted the job offer from the Midwest based corporation last week. Once I accepted the position the corporation ran a background check on me, based on my application. Unfortunately, I failed to list the year I graduated from high school on my application and basically failed the background check...

Pimped my ride!

Posted on November 03, 2007
Ok, so I know the title is cheesy. But I felt like the dorks on MTV's Pimp My Ride show yesterday. I have wanted to get a little lift and bigger tires on my Jeep (whom I affectionately refer to as "Beep") since purchasing it! So, in celebration of my job offer (not in celebration of my computer crash), I treated myself to a 2" Tuff Country lift and 32" Maxxis Bighorn tires...

Computer meltdown

Posted on November 03, 2007
Basically, every single year I have been in law school my computer has crashed and I have lost some data. But the latest crash wins the award for the worst law school computer meltdown. My computer decided it would not even turn on Thursday afternoon...

Speechless!!

Posted on October 30, 2007
It is not often that I am actually speechless. But everyone once in awhile, things go my way. I was offered a position with a great company today, doing work in an area of law I truly enjoy. After getting kicked around in law school the last few years, the job offer still does not seem real...

Flu Shot Advocate!!

Posted on October 19, 2007
I have had quite the week! My husband was in town last week, and apparently he was harboring flu germs. He called on Monday of this week, miserable with a nasty strain of the flu. Then Wednesday rolled around, and I woke up sick as well. I tried attending a few classes, but it ended up with me running out of the class and straight to the bathroom...

Being Positive....

Posted on October 18, 2007
So, I have been bitching way too much lately! I apologize. I have decided to post the positive stuff going on in my life instead of all the negatives...School:1. First draft of my "A" paper is out the door. I am scheduled to get it back this week, which means I will be done with it completely before finals roll around!Jobs2...

Buried....

Posted on October 12, 2007
I feel buried in work. I walk in to my clerkship three days a week to a new pile of client folders on my desk. My bosses expect me to complete the same level and number of assignments as I did in the summer, so I try and often do. I do the same amount of work I did this summer in half the time...

Relaxing Morning

Posted on September 29, 2007
This morning has been pretty relaxing. I woke up early and organized my little apartment. Then I took Lobo outside and played ball with her for about a half hour. And now I am back in the apartment, listening to music, drinking coffee, and working on my paper...

I try to stay positive BUT...
