Mass Divorce- regarding abondonment

I have been disabled for over 25 years. Last Nov. I had endoscopic brain surgery. It was not successful and had to be followed up by a major craniotomy. My huaband and I had not been contemplating divorce but after the 2nd surgery he filed for divorce and moved out. He had agreed he would be my support at home, My recovery has been long and complicated due to the fact that I was so confused, he never picked up my 2 RX for pain pills that I was suppose to be taking for at least a month. I was having seizures but did not realize that what was going on. My question is will I be able to get additional compensation for the help I am going to need as a disabled person with no support but one very good friend. But she has a family and can only help so much, I missed all my surgery follow up appts due to lack of transportation and the fact that I was so confused and in so much pain. I believe this is considered criminal abondonment due to the circumstances in some states. I am wondering if it matters in Mass?
