Crazy Ethical

By "Daisy Duke"

ADVERTISEMENTS
Saturday was the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam, a/k/a the MPRE, a/k/a the "Are You Going To Be An Ethical Lawyer" exam. Unlike some people I didn't oversleep and miss the exam, or oversleep and almost miss the exam. Nope I was there right on time. Scarlett and I are, if nothing else, punctual.

But Crazy McCrazerton was also on time. And seated next to me. And for the thirty minutes, prior to the exam starting, she giggled maniacally under her breath. And let me tell you, there was nothing funny going on. She also rocked back and forth in her chair, and periodically called to God for help. Which is all well and good, but combined with the giggling, the occasional pacing, and the rocking, I was pretty distracted. When our proctor (who, um, unfortunately had a horrible speech impediment and kept using the word "assess" instead of "access") told everyone to remove all prohibited items (you know, weapons, ballpoint pens, answer keys, study guides, small furry animals, and cellular devices) my desk-mate failed to comply with the rules. And I hate to be a stickler or a bitch, but the exam was about ethics & rules. And so I pointed out to her that some of her objects were on the prohibited list.

And then she gave me an evil look, went to the restroom, removed the items, and began giggling some more.

If I don't pass the exam, I'm blaming Crazy.
