: Bernard MadoffRuth..Losing Track of Days...But Still Driving The Train

Dear Diary,
It was a year ago today that we were all together, enjoying the beautiful weather at The Beach. I remember that weekend as if it were yesterday.
Shana brought over a design layout for her new house in East Hampton, and Mark was showing us the decorator's plan for his new house in Nantucket.
Silly Peter was worried that his new little sports car was going to get bird droppings on it from parking under the trees in front, and Andy was chasing after his little hooker girlfriend because she was practically topless in that string bikini.
And all of the kids were running around on the beach having a wonderful time.
The world was our oyster, and Bernie's collection of Rolex Oysters was a eyebrow lash in the sand when thinking about the castles in the sand that we bought for ourselves, and the ones that we bought for our children, and other people in the family. Even if they've all turned out to be ingrates!
A year ago. Ha.
Now its come apart at the seams. The lawyers are saying that Bernie's sentencing is still on for the 29th, but that its probably going to get delayed. (Speaking of seams: Note to Diary: drop of Bernie's grey pinstripe suit at tailor and have seams taken in, he's lost 10 lbs in that hell hole and he needs to look as handsome as always!),
Then again, Ira isn't exactly so great at predicting these silly court events. The last time Bernie was scheduled for court, "Ike" (what kind of a nice Jewish boy calls himself "Ike"?) actually told Bernie "not to bring anything with him", and that he'd be "home for dinner." Nice guessing Ira. Its a good thing you weren't managing the trading at Bernie's firm! But Bernie always said you did a good job with the Frank & Beans situation, so I suppose you deserve more credit than anyone gives you.
So if its not delayed, I'll have to get my roots done, and see if I can get Botox by next Monday, so it fills in correctly.
I really don't want to go. Its not as if I can't see Bernie whenever I want, and it'll be a media circus. But I suppose it would not look right for me not to be there.
The boys may not go. I understand.
Not.
They're "still in shock" and " don't comprehend what has happened." Ha. As if they were so deprived. My fault maybe. Instead of going to the club to play golf, maybe I should have watched their little league games.
My Boys! Such Cutie Pies!!! I hope I'll never have to ask for the money back; watching Andy cry is heartbreaking for me.
The real question is, "What shall I wear?"
I was thinking the black and white tweed Chanel suit from three years ago, with a white satin blouse. The black and white Chanel spectators are too much of an "outfit," so just black low heeled pumps. Small black bag- NOT Chanel - too over the top doing "all" Chanel. Maybe a plain Lana Marks black leather.
I'll need to remember a white handkerchief too. One of the ones from Venice; from that Island where the girls go blind making the lace.
Plain gold earrings ( Cartier hoops) and my Cartier gold watch. Bernie was so crazy that night in December, he actually thought I should put that one in to the gift box too! Anyway, its perfect and not showy; more or less what one would wear to a High Class Wasp Funeral at Campbell's.
Don't think I am being unfeeling, Diary, but Bernie would want me to look well, and for me to hold my head up high. I'll take three of the pink Xanax before, and then have a few for during. I do NOT want to CRY. Couple of Klonapin too, I guess.
And Altoids in case I end up talking to strangers. My breath needs to be fresh.
But I just may have a statement of my own for Judge Chinny Chin Chin.
If all of these "victims" are allowed to speak, or write, or Blog, or "Twitter," or whatever else they're doing to feel sorry for themselves. then why shouldn't I?
Because their behavior is Shameful. The only thing they're doing is embarrassing themselves. The world is full of people that want to take credit when times are good and blame someone else when things go to shit
Like they didn't see a good thing when they invested with my Bernie? Fifteen percent? In a shit market? Cry me a river, you people.
Well Diary, Here is my statement: Ruthie's Cri de Coeur, as it were.
