Blawg of the Day - Texas Bar Blog
Posted on September 25, 2009I've long been a fan of John Sirman at the State Bar of Texas - he's always been on the bleeding edge of technology for bar associations, especially when these entities aren't generally the fastest to catch up with the latest technologies. I'm glad to see that he, with a team of others, is blogging on behalf of the SBOT at Texas Bar Blog. What are Firms Doing About Technology These Days?
Posted on September 22, 2009That's the issue Dennis and I discuss in the latest episode of The Kennedy-Mighell Report. In Law Firms and Legal Technology: Trends and Challenges, we take a look at the InsideLegal/ILTA Technology Purchasing Survey, and some of the trends that are emerging in legal technology this year. The survey really shows a tightening of the belt in law firm technology budgets this year, but some firms are seeing a light at the end of that tunnel. Thanks to JoAnna Forshee for giving us the survey info - we had a great time talking about it.

A Good Base for Health Information
Posted on September 09, 2009I've been checking out HealthBase, a new search tool powered by NetBase, a company that's doing some interesting things with search technology. HealthBase aims to provide answers, not just search results, and it does a pretty good job at that. The search box has four tabs, allowing you to search for different information on medical conditions - Treatments, Causes, Complications, and Pros & Cons of treatment. Just plug in a condition - I tried "Cushing's" - and under Treatments, I found some very concise descriptions of drug and other types of treatments for the condition. By just clicking on the + sign next to the treatment, the answers are provided in a small box, with a link to the original source if you want to get more information...
