This is the first time in 7 years I have not had plans for the first weekend in April.One might be thinking at this point what in the world did I usually do on the first weekend in Apirl?With a sad heart I deeply regret that I will not be going to Chilifest this year...

Recently the internet, along with major publications, specifically WSJ, have become ever more disdainful of American Law Schools. Not the elite of course, but pretty much anybody ranked lower than 30 (that is being generous).The arguments basically say that American law schools do a poor job of fully disclosing job opportunities at the completion of law school...

Because damn, Finals as a 3L are the only way to go. I have 3 finals. 2 of which are substantive law the other is Trail Advocacy, all evenly spaced a week apart...Glorious!I have not had a legit freak out yet, and I've already taken 2 of the finals!To all the 1L's, I highly recommend this approach to law school...

Yesterday in trial advocacy we watched a clip of Gladiator. It was the scene in which Proximo was talking to Maximus about them finally going to Rome. Well it looks as if Texas A&M is finally giving up on the Fran Plan. Rumors and alot of smoke have reported that Fran has or is close to settling on a 2 million dollar buyout and the end of the season. This is 6 million less due to the fact he broke a few secondary NCAA infractions with secret emails he was selling to boosters...

So there is a board in the Atrium of the Law School that has the names of all the students clerking for judges. It of course is a big deal because clerking is cool. Anyway, I go up there to see if they have added my name.......They added my last name correctly but put a completely different first name...

For those of you who do not know what the "ID" is, it is a freudian concept that says that the human mind acting in only its most hedonistic capacity is exercising its ID. Its not just hedonism either. It basically animalistic side of human nature. This is probably the worst definition ever written but at least you get the idea...

So it finally happend. Im a 3L. The top of the law school food chain, which makes me about as qualifed to practice law as my first day of law school. However my semster is a bit more exciting.I decided to forgo another 15 hours of lecture class to sign up for a clinic...

Fear and Loathing in Houston

I moved out of my apartment last Saturday. When I took the clerkship in Houston, I didn't realize that leaving Austin for the summer would strike me the way it did. Houston nights have already began to fog up glasses when you walk out of the bar. Perhaps because of the Write-On packet I've yet to fully embrace Houston again as my own, but as of right now I feel like a stranger to this city...

Perhaps its because I realize they are more advisors than headhunters and I don't expect them to get me a job. Hell, they even stroked my ego a little bit saying that I was in great shape...

4 words.Do NOT do it,Unless you have confirmation from at least 5 sources that it is worth your time. Just becaus one has been an expert witness in a few trials does not qualify the individual to teach a law class. There thought process are not the same as lawyers and their approach to the subject material is also not the same as a typical law class...
