Local lawyer and deputy D.A. to challenge Cooley in election

Deputy District Attorney Steven Ipsen and local attorney Albert Robles will challenge Los Angeles District Attorney Steve Cooley in this year's election, the Metropolitan News-Enterprise reported.

Ipsen spent over two decades at the Los Angeles County District Attorney?s office and has been president of the Association of Deputy District Attorneys for seven years.

Cooley would be the second district attorney in the county to be elected to three consecutive terms, Met News reported. The last was Thomas Lee Woolwine from 1915 to 1923.
