Man Sues Cancer Center for Wife’s Death

Ron Weidenfeller has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Schaumburg-based Cancer Treatment Centers of America and its Midwestern Regional Medical Center in Zion on behalf of his wife Maria who his says died from an undiagnosed colon obstruction. Maria Weidenfeller died at the Zion facility at the end of her third weeklong visit for treatments for pancreatic cancer. Earlier in the week when she died, Maria Weidenfeller had already been complaining of severe pain, distention of her abdomen and constipation, her husband said. The couple sought tests to make sure she had no bowel obstruction, but staff at the facility assured them she’d be fine, Ron Weidenfeller said.
