Where the Story Ends Part II

ADVERTISEMENTS
I officially finished my very last law school class ever about 3 hours ago. I promptly hit the local bar across the street from [Useless] Law to celebrate with friends who were also finally finished.

After returning to the library ever so slightly inebriated I've decided that library time would be much more enjoyable if I just always made it a habit to drink before coming to commence the "studying" process.

Despite the fact that I haven't studied a bit for my finals, don't have a job, and am terrified of the bar exam this summer, I am so relieved that law school itself is finally over. I will never again have to feel the dread of showing up to class not having done the reading and worrying about whether or not I'll get called on by a professor who delights in making ruthless attacks at unknowing law students.

But at the same time it's a little bittersweet. I really can't believe it's already over. It seems like yesterday I was sitting in my very first law school class ever, which was Torts, I had no idea what I was doing and I was so terrified that I was going to get called on. I didn't know anyone and I was desperately longing for my days in undergrad surrounded by friends, a time where I felt like I was actually smart. I've come a long way since then. I just argued a suppression motion today, and although it didn't go the way I would have liked it to, I felt like I actually knew what the hell I was doing, I felt like a "lawyer", and that's a feeling that I've had more frequently throughout the last 9 months or so. It's crazy. Law school has completely changed me, I'm not sure yet if that is a good or bad thing, I'm sure I'll have more thoughts on that later as I finally get the chance to digest everything that's happened the past 3 years.

But for now I have to focus on finals, must focus on finals. I may be done with classes, but I still haven't passed yet, and it would be a shame to not get that J.D. after the 3 years of ups and downs. But then again I wouldn't be me if I said I was getting started on studying right now. I think I'll wait for tomorrow. Or maybe the day after that.

I should not be allowed to write blog posts after consuming alcohol in the amount I have consumed it in celebration this evening
