You may know that I have the privilege this year of serving as Chair of ABA TECHSHOW 2008, the premier legal technology conference for lawyers and legal professionals. This year the show takes place March 13-15 in Chicago, Illinois. One of the great things about having a blog is that you can talk about anything you want -- so I hope you'll indulge me for the next few weeks, as I use my blog to talk about some of the reasons you should attend ABA TECHSHOW.
The first, and best, reason to attend ABA TECHSHOW is simple: the content. This year we're offering more than 50 educational sessions over 2-1/2 days, spread out over 5 tracks each day. We're bringing back some of our most popular tracks -- Microsoft Office, Advanced IT/Security, Litigation, E-Discovery, Internet, and Mobile Technology. We've also introduced new (or expanded popular) tracks this year, including the Paperless Office, Records Management, Large Firm/Corporate Counsel, Client Relationships (Marketing), Going Green (devoted to sustainable legal technology), and our first-ever Mac Track.
Again this year we're offering not one but two concurrent Solo and Small Firm tracks on Friday, March 14, for our SSF lawyers. We've arranged it this way so that solo lawyers who want to experience ABA TECHSHOW but not attend the whole conference can take advantage of a one day rate and get a boatload of programming designed specifically for them.
We can't forget the Roundtables, either. This year we asked our attendees: which topics are most important to you? You voted, and we responded -- our interactive roundtable sessions this year were picked by you, so be sure to swing by to speak with one of our great TECHSHOW speakers.
One of the hardest things you'll have to do as an ABA TECHSHOW attendee is figure out which of the great sessions to attend. You can of course customize your own schedule, but we've designed the programming this year so that you can choose a "theme," if you want. The Records Management and Litigation tracks on Thursday flow nicely into the E-Discovery track on Friday; those who attend Thursday's Advanced IT/Security track may also find Friday's Large Firm/Corporate Counsel track to their liking.
