You’ve GOT to check out the new Sony VAIO P. I think it’s the most fascinating product announced at CES 2009 after the blockbusting Palm Pre. Check out info at the Sony site here. It’s a 1.4 pound (not a misprint - that’s ONE.four pounds) full-blown Netbook in a newm, wider form factor - the display is 8″ wide with a high-res 1600×768 backlit LED display. Equipped with an Intel 1.33 ghz Atom processor, the only downside if the damnable Vista Home Premium (the Seventh Circle of Digital Hell) or Vista Home Basic (the Ninth or Tenth Circle, at least) is the only OS choice (no clue, it’s a Sony thing).

Can’t wait to get my hands on one to try out (apologies to my trusty little Lenovo IdeaPad S10 who believes I’m in love with her). Pricing between $899 and $1499 depending on whether you get the tiny 60 Gb hard drive, the 64 or 128 gb SSD drive. Arrival? Sony’s taking your money for pre-orders now. That wide screen and wide keyboard - I’m thinking great note-taking device.

OTOH, you can probably find a Radio Shack TRS-80 Model 100 on eBay . . .
