Bloomberg Sets Up Wall Street Angel Fund; Selects Madoff's MIDAS Fund

ADVERTISEMENTS

Just a few 'after the close comments'...then I've got to move into the other room and try on the new set of bath robes that Ira sent over...

I told Mike Bloomberg that I really don't like to advertise our funds, but he insisted on telling everyone that he's authorizing an angel fund for out-of-work Wall Streeters that are creating new businesses, and since we might have John Thain and Hank Paulson on board with us, we're exactly the type of firm that NYC is looking to help jump start and get people back to work. Thanks, Michael!

To: Tom Daschle

That dopamine was kicking in yesterday and I actually thought you were a shoe-in. So what that you forgot to tell people how much you made, and that you forgot to pay some taxes?? Nonsense issues!

I forgot to tell people how much they didn't make! And they actually paid taxes!!! So Uncle Sam was actually a big winner! Hysterical, right??

Anyway..To answer the note you sent me this afternoon:

Yes, We're hiring (for the MIDAS Fund). I'd be happy to provide you with a car and a driver as a perq, but there are two things we need to figure out.

1. You'll have to use Andy as a driver. He drives fine, but don't get him pissed off too much. He might slap you around. Mark might be available to fill in, I'll have to check.

2. That fucking Picard guy cancelled the leases on all of the cars in our fleet. I'm figuring that you've got some friends in Washington that can call Picard and straighten that out, but if not, that means you won't actually have a car, but at least you'll have a driver.

As a back up, Pete has an extra 550 at his place in Long Island--and since he's down in Palm Beach now, we can use that one temporarily.

3. And if you run into Mary Shapiro, please tell her that Bob Colby made the right move by going to Davis Polk. That's where Eric is going to be working, too. Assuming he can fill out the job application form. But that's great that so many former SEC people can keep working together in the private sector!

But even if the car thing takes a few days to work out, I've got plenty of golf balls that you can use while your getting rested up down in Palm Beach.. Click on the button on the right for more on that.

To Sonny D. : Your son Bret is blabbing again. But, I'm guessing that nobody is paying attention and that your SIPC claim is going to be processed the way Harbeck said it would. I don't think it matters that you didn't have money at BMIS on Dec 11.. You've got plenty of documentation for the claim as it is... so don't worry so much.

I'll speak to Frank D. just in case. He should be able to take care of it.

Thanks again for the coupons from The Palm. You didn't really need to give me that $90 Birthday Certificate..but it was very thoughtful..Who says you aren't a thoughtful guy??.Anyway, we're actually ordering in from them tonight..Lobster Claws for me, and the salmon for Ruth. Speaking of claws--did you see the post I published earlier today?
