12th Annual Eastern District Bench/Bar Conference announced

  The brochures for the 12th annual Eastern District bench/bar conference went out by e-mail today.  The conference will be held at the Moody Gardens Conference Center in Galveston, Texas, on October 16 and 17, 2008.  If you didn't get a copy of the brochure, here's one - Download 2008_Bench_Bar_Brochure.pdf  To register, go to http://www.edtexbar.com.  Deadline for registration is September 15, 2008.
Once again, the conference is loaded with CLE, 7.25 hours this year, with 3 hours legal ethics.  Of interest is lunch speaker former Congressman Charlie Wilson of Lufkin, who will be speaking on "The Real Story Behind "Charlie Wilson's War", and Joe Jamail providing "Musings on Legal Ethics in the 21st Century" for which 45 minute presentation you will receive 15 minutes of ethics credit.  No, really.
It's my understanding that Mr. Wilson will be signing copies of the DVD of the famous movie, and Mr. Jamail will be signing copies of the DVD of the famous "gag a maggot" deposition.  It's hard to say which will have the longer line.
