: Legal Pad | LAProp. 8 supporters give up fight over change in ballot language
By Jason Siegel
The sponsors of Proposition 8 won't challenge the decision by a Sacramento judge and appeals court to keep the revised title and summary, KNBC reported. (here)
They argued that the measure, which proposes a state constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage, wasn't given a neutral title and summary when Atty. Gen. Jerry Brown revised it - prompted by the California Supreme Court overturned the state ban on same-sex marriage.
Rather than placing a "limit on marriage," the title was changed to indicate it would "eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry."
The Yes of Prop 8 campaign can now fully focus on raising money. They recieved $1.1 million between Friday and Sunday, compared to $214,000 by the No on 8 campaign, Cal Law's Legal Pad reported (here).
