: BoardBuzz: NSBA's Daily WeblogMore education peeps in presidential race
Minnesota Public Radio reports on the latest on education in presidential politics, what their story calls a "fleeting appearance." This one has to do with the NEA's endorsement of Barack Obama. MPR's take is that the endorsement was less significant as a surprise (NEA has consistently supported Democratic nominees) than for the relatively low (80%) member affirmation of the decision. Seems NEA members aren't wild about Obama's support for merit pay—NEA's Representative Assembly booed when the subject came up. He's also voiced support for school choice, though not for vouchers. And though they both acknowledge it needs fixing, neither Obama nor John McCain are talking about ending No Child Left Behind.
