How to evict roomate who causes disruption of peace and who is also family.

Hello,My father was let into our home because he messed up his life- job loss, divorce, new job, dui, lossed home and the story goes on.. I am pretty simpathetic towards him and my fiance and I let him in in lieu of church jumping for homeless people. Well on one condition, he would not drink because we have two younger children and we can not handle his mood swings when he has been drinking. He has since started to drink since not ahving a drop for months. He has messed up his life and had some bad hands dealt but when he drinks he goes psycho and we will not let him around the children whatsoever. We leave our house until he is sober or other things like we tried locking him out for a few hours.. Called cops but there was not domestic dipute yet so they could not help. Please help 2 young adults trying to make it we need advice and guidelines. What are your rights what basis do we have and how long willl this take? Also we are renters and not owners Thank you....
