Can I marry an alien while my US citizenship application is being procesed?

I have been a permanent resident for the last 15 years. I am currently applying for US Citizenship and have received my receipt notice from the USCIS. I am planning on getting married in June 2008 to a Guatemalan. On my receipt notice it says I will receive my next notice within 450 days. I was quite surprised at this length of time and am now wondering what is the best decision in terms of our wedding. Can I get married to a non Citizen during this citizenship process? Or is it better to wait until it is done?
