Some elses debt is being reported by a bank to the crecit agencies. They know and have ackowledged it is not mine, yet it is still being listed as mine. it was my son's and no I didn't co-sign. It is adversly affecting my credit. Do I have any legal options?
My son took a personal loan out at the credit union that I have banked at for years. Over 4 years ago, we saw it on our credit report when we were turned down for a loan. We had to get a letter from the bank stating it was not ours, we took care of it with the credit agencies, we thought it was done. But still it is being reported as my debt. The credit union says they are not reporting it that way, but the credit agencies say yes they are. I just decided to begin banking on line and to my utter horror there it was, my son's accountlisted with mine!
Can I take any legal action for this false reporting since this was to have been stopped over 4 years ago and continues with no regard for the negative effects it is having on my credit rating and interest fees?
