How can I get my roommate to move out when he is refusing? He was given over 30 days notice and is only subleasing the room from me, the master tenant.

My nightmare roommate was given 30 days notice to move out and @ 9pm on the last day he asked me for "an extension" because he hasn't been able to find a place to go. (He hasn't even been looking!) I explained that I had renters waiting to move in the following day & that this was not possible. I agreed to meet him "half-way" by offering to let him box up his stuff & store it in the shed & sleep on the couch for 2 weeks so the new renters could move into the room. However he has failed to make any effort to pack his items and my new roommates are due to arrive in a few hours. This has the potential to get ugly very quickly and I need to know what I can do legally and if there are any suggestions for the best approach to handle this. BTW--rent would be due today, which I know he does not have, so would this help my case?
