Am I responsible for my grandmother medical bills visiting me from a different country.
My grandmother-in-law came to US for a short visit on a visitor visa for tourism. Due to some complications we had to take her to hospital in emergency. She was in hospital for 13 days & had a pacemaker put in. My granny has left the country & went back to her home. I am being bombarded by her medical bills. She had international insurance but the coverage amount has been exceeded, the hospital had all insurance info. I am getting phone calls, letters, bills in her name @ my address. What should I do ?, am I liable to pay those bills.? I have a copy of her insurance card. Should I start calling everybody & give them her insurance card...or just tell them that she has left the country.
