When selling an inherited home, how to make sure that the beneficiaries are taxed on the stepped up basis?


I know that in selling an inheritied home you get the Fair market value at death. Dies it matter on how one trnasfers the deed to preserve the stepped up basis? Does the deed go from the estate of the deceased to the buyer or from the people who inheritied it? DOES it matter?
