Should I sign a Waiver of Process Consent to Probate?

My mother died last month and my sister sent me a Waiver of Process document to sign in order to consent to probate. What does that mean? This document apparently also consents to name sister as testamentary. What does that mean? I had the document notarized & sent back to my sister. There was no lawyer listed on document, though my mother definitely had a lawyer. There was also a trust fund naming me as beneficiary. Do I need a lawyer to get to the bottom of this? I do not have a copy of my mother's will.
