Is my employer resposible for parking lot safety?

In the early morning on Oct 23 06 I went to an atm to make a deposit. I was unknowingly followed to my place of employment by four men who saw me pull out of the bank and assumed I made a withdrawal. When I arrived at work I got out of my car and looked for my work truck in he company parking lot. The car with the four men stopped next to me and a man with a shotgun got out and robbed me. The lack of lighting in the lot made it impossible for me to get any descrption of the car or good descption of the suspects. My company hired a security officer for one week. The officer is gone and no lights have been installed. I don't feel safe at all.
