China?s New Laws Create Opportunities for International Lawyers

New Chinese laws have created opportunities for international lawyers focusing on China. Dan Harris of the China Law Blog noted five new laws that will significantly change how business is conducted in China.

Here’s a list of the legal areas discussed:

1. Equal tax on foreign and domestic companies.

2. Labor law

3. Anti-monopoly law

4. Foreign direct investment catalogue

5. Property law

International business law will likely become increasingly in demand as a boutique law firm and solo specialty. For every multinational conglomerate operating in China, there are hundreds of small and midsize businesses trying to break in. Small firms will be better positioned to provide these businesses with the legal services they will need. It’s something to think about.
