Negligence lawsuits were filed earlier this month against Harris County, Cloverleaf Volunteer Fire Department and its former members Jason Southard and Marvin Romero, Department Chief Michael Battise and the county?s Emergency Service District 12. It claims they were negligent when officials hired, trained and supervised two volunteer firefighters later accused of starting blazes at homes out of boredom. The suits ask damages connected to the loss of the houses and their contents as well as for fire debris removal, attorney fees, court costs and punitive damages.
