Fundamentals of Legal Research Workshop Series

By Leslie A. Pardo

ADVERTISEMENTS

Do you need to improve your legal research skills? If so, we’d like to help. We’re offering all ASU law students (MLS and LLM students too!) the opportunity to participate in our Fundamentals of Legal Research workshop series. A bonus ? the workshops are free!

Would you like to boast to your future employer that you have successfully completed our workshop series? All students who make it through the workshop series will receive a nice certificate acknowledging their accomplishment. To complete the workshop series, you must attend all six workshops and successfully complete six short assignments using the skills you’ve just learned.

Each of the six workshops will be offered multiple times. Don’t want to attend all six? That’s ok ? you can be selective. You can also take the workshops in any order you want. They are all independent of each other.

The six workshops are:

  • Secondary sources and practice materials
  • Cases and court rules
  • Legislation
  • Regulations and other agency materials
  • Cost-effective legal research
  • Building better Westlaw and LexisNexis searches

Some workshops are already scheduled and are listed on our web site at http://www.law.asu.edu/library-workshops. We’ll be adding additional times throughout the semester. To find out about future workshops, continue checking the site.

To sign up for workshops, use the sign-up sheet at the circulation desk. You may also call the circulation desk at 965-6144 or email Beth DiFelice at beth.difelice@asu.edu, and we’ll get you signed up. Because space is limited, please let us know if you need to cancel.

Questions or comments, contact Beth DiFelice at beth.difelice@asu.edu, 965-4871, room 111D in the law library.
