: Legal Pad | LAGC at Liberty to fight online piracy
By Richard Binder
Marc Randazza, general counsel for San Diego-based adult entertainment company Liberty Media Holdings, filed a federal lawsuit Dec. 3 in the Southern District of California against 51 eBay sellers who have allegedly engaged in a counterfeit DVD enterprise.
The suit claims that two primary defendants illegally copied hundreds of movies from a web site owned by Liberty Media and sold them on eBay. An employee of the adult entertainment company discovered the scheme, according to the complaint, and posed as a buyer to get a DVD and received some incriminating emails as well.
Randazza was hired by Liberty Media for the purpose of shutting down as many online piracy operations as can be found. More on this at Corporate Counsel.
