: PeteHoliday.comScout Defies the Laws of Physics
By Pete
One of the “chores” that I put off more than any other is brushing Scout. Yes, I have a FURminator. Yes, it is awesome. Unfortunately it does not pull itself out of the cupboard and chase my dog around every day in order to brush him.
I will be honest with you: de-furring this particular Labrador retriever is something that should take place no less frequently than twice a day. Instead, it takes place once a month. This causes a certain degree of build-up.
Yesterday, while watching my latest Netflix delivery1, I sat down with Scout, my FURminator, and a large trash can. I started brushing. I stopped, almost an hour later, when I looked into the trash can and noticed that I had what I can only estimate was enough hair to cover two entire dogs.
I then slowly turned to look at Scout, who I imagined would be completely hairless. He was not. Instead, he looked as though he hadn’t come within a hundred feet of a brush. He even had some loose hairs poking through the top-coat, a telltale sign that he was in dire need of a brushing.
What (or who?) had I just spent the last hour brushing?
Somehow this dog regenerates hair at a rate greater than I can actually brush it off of him. I’m pretty sure this is just a sign that I should never, ever brush my dog again.
I’m not going to tell you which one because I am actually the last person on earth to see it.
