I caught my first flight into Houston and then raced to the first New Orleans gate. I really didn't expect to make it out (a combination of completely over-sold flights and about 50 non-revenue passengers like myself trying to make it to the Big Easy for a weekend of frivolity) today or even tomorrow, so I had just settled in with a 24 hour internet pass & some DVD's when my name was called to board the flight. Now I wish I'd left the DVD's out and brought an extra pair of shoes or 4. I was a little shocked and only managed to send out one text message to BISMOW and Overflowing Brain that accidently read "Made or!" instead of "Made it!" but I think they managed to decipher my mistake. I've already had a shrimp po'boy and met Slappy (who has taken to calling me S.K. or serial killer...it appears he thinks finding new best friends on the internet a little weird....) and I'm pretty excited for the festivities to begin. I think I've won Slappy over with my idea to hit up my favorite (and his favorite) sushi joint before we go to the parades & I can't wait for my college girlfriends to meet Katie & Slappy.
