Kamikaze in Pennsylvania

ADVERTISEMENTS
The blue state the McCain campaign is trying to flip isn't Michigan, as I predicted here.

It's Pennsylvania. And it's a Kamikaze strategy that, if successful, allows McCain to lose New Mexico, Iowa, Colorado, and either Nevada or Virginia (or both, if he also swings New Hampshire).

The problem? McCain is down by 11 points in PA, barely cracking 40% right now.

I'm no campaign strategist. But is it really easier to flip a state like Pennsylvania than to hold onto Nevada, Virginia, and Colorado? True, that's three states. But they all went for Bush in 2004, unlike PA.

Let's just say that McCain is making the ultimate gamble here. And if, somehow, Pennsylvania flips, it's going to look like the most brilliant campaign strategy in a long, long time.
