Such Great Heights. Come Down Now?

ADVERTISEMENTS
Everyone who is a regular reader or knows me personally, knows how tough a year 23 was for me. Well, I'm just here to report how good of a year 24 was. True, it wasn't the best year of my life, but I accomplished most of my top goals- graduating from law school, passing the bar, and having an active social life- and I had a lot of fun along the way. The glaring omission of course is that I never did get that elusive full time job. I also couldn't find a way to not awkwardly talk to the opposite sex. Sure I had a few dates, two of which I got the old fashioned way, on my own, but I still lack those skills to pay the bills.

So now that I'm 25, the question is, what's next? I feel like I'm entering a totally new phase in my life, and I don't know what to expect. Before, everything had a nice little script to it: go to college, go to law school, and take the bar. Sure there were major bumps along the way, but the script was basically followed. There is no real script for what happens next. My future goals are relatively minor compared to before, but I feel like I still have that eye of the tiger that needs to be unleashed. There's something bigger out there for me (other than eventually owning the Warriors), I just don't know what it is yet.

Clearly, the most pressing thing is getting a job, and with that, a newer, dependable car, a sweet new TV and some other things I couldn't afford before. But other than that, I really don't know what will become of me. Maybe I'll sit down and finally write that screenplay that I've been hashing out in my head for the last couple of years. Maybe I'll decide to stop making excuses for my inability to talk to women, and just do it. Maybe the Warriors will get past the 1st round of the playoffs (there's no hurry, I'm still on the high from this last playoff run).

I don't know if these things will happen, but it's a little refreshing to know that I'm about to embark into the unknown with no real bad strings, other than student loans. So here's to hoping things work out for the best, and that I grow and reach new heights.
