We Take A Break In Our Regularly Scheduled Programming...

Sometimes, as I stare at my law school debt, or want to go to bed but really have to finish reading depositions & then start my homework, I wonder why I went into law. When I hear the media bash the "liberal tort bar" or the "liberal trial bar" I wonder what mess I've jumped straight into. When I hear the media tirade against medical malpractice claims and listen to my friends who are in med school talk about their views on the profession I wonder if I've made the right decisions.

Today a client, from our trial in August called to ask me how my Easter was and get an update on the their appeal. He thanked me for my hard work and keeping him posted on all aspects of his father's case. He was so relieved when I told him we truly don't believe that his case will be kicked to the State Supreme Court.

Then I spoke with another client who is nervous about upcoming depositions of her family members. She told me she has our firm photo on her fridge and shows her Mom who I am and tells her Mom & Dad I am their guardian angel over here at the firm, looking out for their case, and how my firm and I actually care about them and their problems.

And I think about the condo that our previously homeless client bought with his settlement money on a case that I put in more hours than you could count in a year, and I think about how his life has been changed.

And then I realize that is why I'm here.

I sure hope I get an offer.

And now, back to our regularly scheduled programming of Ex's and Easter's and other frivolity.
