: Dispatches from the Culture WarsMcCain Chief of Staff Wins an Award
By Ed Brayton
But probably not one he wants to win. Mike Rogers, who has outed a great many gay Republicans who spend their time working against the interests of gay people, has outed another one: Mark Buse, John McCain's chief of staff. Buse is the latest winner of the aptly named Roy Cohn award "in recognition of his work against the gay and lesbian community while living as an out gay man himself."
I got to meet Mike Rogers in Austin in July, where we played poker together. He's a riot to be around. And while some object to this kind of outing, I don't have a big problem with it. I think someone who is gay but supports those who actively work against the equal rights of gays deserves to be called on it.
