Montgomery County Proposes Specialized Docket

The Courier of Montgomery County reports, "County seeks $550K grant for mentally ill indigent defendants."  It's written by Kassia Micek.Montgomery County hopes to break new ground as the first county in the state to offer a docket solely for mentally ill indigent defendants.Commissioners Court approved Monday morning an application to the Task Force on Indigent Defense for a $550,000 indigent defense grant. The five-year grant requires a 20 percent match by the county in infrastructure, such as office space and personnel, but no financial match, said Genoveva Perez, director of the Office of Indigent Defense in Montgomery County.?We?ve applied for a grant to set up a private defender mental health court,?
