The Doughnut Dilemma: SUVs Lead Car Sales : Fuel Efficiency Initiatives are like BROCOLLI -- Good for You but Who Eats It?

By Andis Kaulins

ADVERTISEMENTS

SUVs lead U.S. auto sales growth despite efforts to improve fuel efficiency writes Peter Whoriskey, Washington Post Staff Writer.

The whole sales pitch for fuel efficiency is likened there by Mike Jackson, CEO of AutoNation, the country's largest auto retailer, to broccoli, and trying to get people to do what's allegedly good for them. People buy doughnuts instead!

at least in America .... until the price of gas permanently hits "pain" levels. Then, and only then, will it change.

Hat Tip to CaryGEE.
